My RX300 Auto door lock problem

Hello from NZ,

I love my recently purchased 1998 RX300 but mine has developed a problem with the auto door lock. Whenever I reach 20km/hr it clicks 4 times as if it is trying to lock or unlock the doors which is very annoying. The remote door fob will not unlock the drivers door but works on the rest of the doors. When I park all my doors are locked and have to switched to unlock. Are these problems related and can anyone help me problem solve this?

Hello and welcome to the forum.

I've got a 2005 RX300 and I didn't even know it had such a facility because I lock the doors as soon as I'm in anyway. I can't really answer your question but I repair computers for a living and a reboot solves a good 70% of all problems, so try disconnecting the Battery for about five minutes to allow all systems to reset and see if that helps.

If you sit in the car and then lock the doors with the key fob do they all lock?

From your description the auto lock system is trying to lock all the doors at 20 MPH but if one of the doors fails to lock the system cycles 4 times before leaving the doors unlocked....the usual cause is a faulty actuator motor in the door which fails to lock, in your case probably the driver's door.
