IS250 headlight housing hole

Recommended Posts

I've had to remove my driver side headlight, i've noticed a hole on one corner. Doesn't seem like it is broken or anything but wonder why this is? If i flash a light from inside the light i can see the light just about come through. Isn't this going to allow moisture into the headlight? or is it to allow moisture to evaporate? So does this mean that inside a headlight isnt actually 100% sealed and air tight? I was always under the impression that it was water tight inside without any room for moisture to enter

Picture would help... Obviously, there are latches to change he bulb, which should be closed to prevent moisture.. if latch is missing then I guess it would make a hole. My expectation as well is that unit should be air tight when latches are closed.

I figured out it's a hole that has been caused by something rubbing against it and the plastic has become weak. So going to fill it with some sealant and maybe fibre glass reapir from the outside.
