Remote keyfob Question?

Recommended Posts

A while ago I read a post/ thread in here on how to 'turn off' the remote key fob, Do you think I can find that thread now? Not, the search box above is not very user friendly to say the least!

The gist of the thread was about car security and the fact that with these type of remote keyless entry/start fobs they are transmitting all the time effectively looking for the car! As a security option it was suggested to keep fobs shielded in metal tins and not just inside the front door waiting to be 'read' by some Herbert with a laptop and software from Fleabay to steal Your pride and joy.

One responder suggested that you can effectively 'turn off' the fob by some button push sequence to preserve Battery life but it will awaken when required by pressing any button.

Please tell me I never drempt this as I wish to try/use this option as I seldom use my car and can't remember the process!!!

A quick double press of the lock button switches off the signal. Should be in the handbook, Battery saving function I believe it's called.

I turned off the spare key but just put mine in a tin box, saves having to remember to switch it back on each morning
