Kerbed alloy wheels

Welcome to the snow... Although I had my car in snow mode I still managed to kerb my beautiful condition alloy.  Can anyone recommend a repair specialist who can match the black chrome finish. I have been unable to get a colour code or anyone willing to have a go.

Totally gutted as this is the only mark on my car...

http://www.werestorealloys.co.uk/ did mine in 2015 and I felt they done an excellent job of restoring the OEM black-chrome finish. I did get all 4 wheels done though, not a single so matching the others wasn't an issue. Winters-09.thumb.jpg.97a2bc3101636847f041c552014ae512.jpg

This picture was taken in 2017, so obviously high quality workmanship. They are a long way from Linconshire, but do offer a mail order service.

Thanks for the reply... they look amazing.. I will give them a visit. Might be worth just getting one side done so you cannot tell. Did they colour match or just get the closest they had on the shelf? Thanks again

Neil, I think they maybe just used an off the shelf paint. I requested for the wheels to be as close to OEM as possible, and this is part of the reply they gave me before undertaking the work.

The final stage of prep involves gently blasting the wheels to 'key' for powdercoat.  The wheels are then heated to de-gas the alloy before applying a black powdercoat primer, followed by a careful application of the Lexus chrome effect basecoat and finally a crystal clear powdercoat lacquer.

The end result was pretty close IMO. When I went to collect them, I was absolutely delighted with how they turned out.

You shouldnt have any issues with any good wheel specialist - colour match is a problem if doing single wheels though but it can be done "as close as makes no difference". An exact colour match is almost impossible.  The colour matching used to be an issue when these wheels first came out but bodyshops seem to have got the hang of it now.

I tend to get them done by my dealers bodyshop - was around £60 for 18" and £100 for 20" inclusive of VAT. They've done so many that they've mixed up their own paint and got their own colour code now. Not official but it does the job.

Thanks for the reply...i have asked my local dealer and they used to do them but not anymore.  There is paint perfect in Lincoln but they only pop the tyre bead back which I don't want, if im spending good money I want a total refurb.  Think I may have found a specialist in Melton Mowbray who does the local mercedes dealers repairs so going to give home a shot. Total de-tyre and full repair, approx £80. Will let you know how they go

Well the local dealer won't do the actual repair, they have their own specialists that they tend to use.

Worth knowing that the barrels are not clearcoated so make sure they don't paint and clearcoat that otherwise it'll look different to the rest.
