I have noticed that when moving off in 1st gear, when I change from 1st to 2nd, the gears seem to clunk into mesh unlike changing from 2nd to 3rd to 4th etc.

Is this normal, or am I right to suspect a little wear ? surely there should be no wear within 50,000 miles?

(and if anyone asks, yes I do depress the clutch !!!! ;) )

It a well known issue mate, if you do a search your find quite a few threads on the same thing.

1st - 2nd gear feels notchy, but then gets better when the engine is warmed up?!

If so, and your car is still in warranty book it in to your local dealers. Take it there an hour or so before, so it has time to cool down! :winky:
