I'm sure my 98 had 16" wheels so if  you did fit the 18" you would have very low profile tyres. I would have to say from memory they will not fit imho.

Thanks for your reply - I've checked a few ET calculators and done a bit  of maths and I think they will stick out 9mm more and push in at the back 3mm more than the original 16s. That suggests to me that they should fit.  I've checked out 18" tyres with a similar rolling radius to the standard ones and I currently think that 245 45 18s should do the trick.  

What 18" tyres do others run?
