I just had my 70000 mile service done on my 2010 gs450 everything ok but they said it will probably need new discs and pads at the next service. If I have none lexus ones fitted in the meantime will it invalidate my lexus extended warranty or do they have to be fitted by a main dealer.

You don't need to fit Lexus ones, although they obviously won't be covered by your warranty but they are service items so aren't covered anyway. Lexus also don't have to fit them, you just need to have your regular services conducted by a Lexus dealer.

Agree with fireblade1...

I brought a set of original lexus disc's and pads from lexus Twickenham for £310 few weeks ago.

ECP had pagid  brand discs and brembo psds and they came to around  £260 all round depending on the discount code.

As far as I am aware, there is no legal requirement to have your car serviced at a main dealer, in order to preserve your warranty.

As long as you can prove it was serviced as per schedule.  Of course it is preferable, as a main dealer will have experience in a

particular make.  It also shouldn't make any significant difference to it's trade in value when you eventually come to sell it.

As far as pads and discs go, who actually makes those fitted by Lexus dealers ?.

There is no legal requirement, and in fact it is against the law for a manufacturer to insist on using them for servicing - however this for the original manufacturer's warranty only.

Used vehicle warranties are different and it is part of the T&Cs of the Lexus used warranty that it is serviced by a Lexus dealer. If you don't like it you are free to purchase some other used car warranty - hence the law isn't applied in this case.

Toyota/Lexus use different brake OEMs, for the majority of vehicles destined for Europe they use Textar.
