IS got side swiped!

That’s so different to my experiences when dealing with insurance, however mine is specialist as my car is a Taxi.

But if this had happened to me my insurance company would have me in a replacement van in less than 6 hours from there the car is taken to either their approved body shop or one of my choice and I pay absolutely nothing.

Actually last time I claimed some of my fuel costs back as they couldn’t give me a hybrid and accepted that I was out of pocket because my hire car wasn’t as fuel efficient.

However I recognise that mine is commercial insurance and I’m paying £1400 a year for the privilege.

Certainly. Especially after the shoddy mess Ive seen of my friends ford fiesta. Bought it used with 7k on the clock, was in great condition. 1 week later gets rear-ended on a roundabout, gets sent for repair, comes back a week later with a boot that doesn't close well and misaligned panels, gets sent back and a week later comes back with a good closing boot and a panel gap maybe 1mm less than it was before. The engineer who passed off the work should be shot if he passed that as "within tolerances".

The quote for the IS was £1400. I have no doubt another bodyshop would keep the bumper on, take the small dent out and just paint it for a mere £400-500.

I should mention that Lexus approved repairers have a habit of replacing things rather than repairing too which I actually prefer to be honest.

So this saga appears to be coming to an end. 

The car is now back with us and whoever did it, has done a fine job. Cant even tell that it was there! I checked to see whether its been a bumper change, but nope, I remember a light scratch on the bootlid which is still there so it appears its been repaired, rather than replaced! Either way, its a good job so I dont care!

Now, to claim that £450 excess from the 3rd party insurance company.....

An update - spoke to 3rd party insurance and they said it could take up to 6 months to get excess back. 

Admiral law said they'll try to get it back within  3 weeks for £100 unless I have legal protection on my home insurance which I do. They said they would go through them

Additionally, after enquiring I discovered that the Lexus 12 year corrosion warranty is void if not repaired at a Lexus approved repairer

Have they accepted their driver is 100% at fault for the accident?

Have they hell! They'll take another 3-4 months to work that out unless he claims liability

That's interesting because Lexus dealers in my experience  don't use lexus approved bodyshops when they prepare cars for resale.

Mine ,see Shocked Post, is insured by Lexus & have selected a Porsche Bodyshop to repair as they were formally the Lexus approved bodyshop too.

Lexus initially rejected their Quote because of higher labour costs but allowed me access to the Engineer who eventually agreed to meet my wishes.

My excess is £200 which I will pay & then claim back off my Lexus Smart Cover by Inchcape once their Smartman submits his report.

Like Rayaans declined Courtesy Car .

7 to 10 day repair that looked initially a very minor blemish !

Yes.. that is how they roll - I am sick about insurance here, total scam, government protected fraud. Going trough that myself at the moment and decided to go via private "claims management company", because I could not put-up with crap my insurance was telling me - basically using fraudsters against fraudsters now!

Meh, Admiral sent an email whilst I was on holiday

They want written details of the incident to send to the third party insurance company so that they can claim it back! No wonder I couldn't get anywhere with trying to claim the £450 uninsured loss (excess) back from the other company who were like "we have not received anything".

Looks like it only covers accidents when you're not at fault.

What happens if it's ruled your fault at conclusion I wonder.

Yep its all Claims Management Companies who make money by lifting the cost of insurance through providing fancy hire cars as courtesy cars.

The saga goes on!

Admiral sent the statement and details over to Amlin, the insurance company of the third party. They haven't responded and its been 3 weeks. 

Apparently, they don't have to respond and it'll automatically go to court after that.

Sadly you have to have gallons of patience when dealing with insurance companies, unlike them when they want your yearly premium.

I remembered scanning this thread some time ago. Non fault claim going through with mine, I was very tempted not to go with auxilis, think I'm glad I did now, although can't say I'm particular happy with them (no Lexus approved body shop on their list, given the run around with the hire car excess waiver, but sorted now).  I was speaking to a bloke at work, he said best thing to do is let the third parties insurance sort it out. Add they don't want to pay another companies claim handlers extortionate fees and will do what they can to help you.  

My car was barely drivable, one wheel points left after the bump, so having the car towed and a replacement sent definitely worked out to be an easy option.

Just looking at the repair cost for yours, it'll be interesting to see mine, I've got similar damage, but in every panel except the front right corner!

Ooohhhh I forgot to update.

I got the excess back from the third party insurance company within 2 weeks so it's all sorted. 

Third party is best yes. They sorted out the claiming back of excess as quickly as they could because they knew I didn't have any extortionate hire car fees

Was told my car was ready for collection. To say I disappointed is an understatement. Boot sits about 5mm above the rear quarter panel, paint work looks like it was done with a spray can, gaps below rear lights and alloys look like they were painted with generic silver paint, not even filled, even though I was told I was getting 3 new ones.  My advice is don't touch auxillis with a barge pole, and sort your own repairs in a non fault claim.  

See what it is like after attempt 2!

Gutted!

A trick someone showed me in checking respray job quality is to observe the car from an angle, in sufficient lighting, to see reflections of whatever is on the floor / near the car.

A good job should show no ripples, the reflection should be without distortion / waves.

Sadly I found out our Honda had had some respray job done on it. It had no recorded accident history so I was disappointed to learn two door respray had taken place, by observing the ripples.

To the untrained eye, it looks fine though.

Auxilis is just an accident management company. The bodyshops are the ones who seem like cowboys. 

You could have just gone to your own bodyshop than deal with auxilis
