On the other hand.. in theory copper grease is much better in preventing seizing - that is sole purpose of it in fact.
Lithium grease is more for machinery and moving parts as type of heavy grease... however, because the only purpose of application is to prevent water ingress and subsequent oxidation of thread (or at least making thin barrier to prevent cold veld between valve and oxidated cap) - in short lithium grease should be fine.

Thanks.

Hi mate, I opted for the copper grease. As you said, it’s better at preventing seizing. I just put a small amount on the valve making sure every groove on the thread was filled with it. Put caps on wiped away any excess, only a small amount. Jobs a gooden.

Hi all.:driving:

I brought a set from the bay off E and was going to fit them as i had 2 metal ones on the car when i got it.:no2:

The problem came when i could not get the 2 metal ones off had to use a pair off pliers around the rubber valve and a adjustable spanner to get them off noway was i putting the other ones on so back to the plastic dust caps.

This way i know i can get them off come rain or shine and they will not be stuck:notworthy:

Did you put any copper or lithium grease on first to stop them seizing.

I've used metal dustcaps on 4 Saabs and 3 Lexus.  I just use a little 3-in-1 oil smeared on the thread and I've had no problems.  In my opinion, any lubricant will do the job just fine.......don't over tighten them, light finger tight is plenty, they're only keeping dust out and looking pretty at the same time.

I used copper grease on them. Just put enough on to fill the thread on the valves. Hopefully they’ll be ok.
