Folding door mirrors

Recommended Posts

Is it possible to have the door mirrors fold in automatically when the ignition is turned off on my 2016 IS300H Executive model?  If so, can I do it myself or is it a dealer only fix?

My interpretation of the OP's question is, that he is asking if he can get the mirrors to fold in automatically when "he turns the ignition off" i.e. when he comes to a stop and before he gets out of the car.  He didn't mention locking or unlocking the car.

Or am I reading it wrong?

Hi Bluenose.  You are correct.  I am wondering if it is possible to have the system programmed so that the mirrors fold when the ignition is turned off and the opposite when ignition on?

Is that safe?

If parking up on a road (which you may not do often, but can't say you never will), people will need to use their wing mirrors for getting out of their car safely; to have a look at what's coming from behind. Cars, bikes, etc.

If they're already folded in, safety is compromised.

I doubt such a feature is available from the dealer. I've not seen it in Techstream as an option, and not sure how else it would be enabled.

here is a module to give you auto fold / unfold of your mirrors

it goes without saying that your mirrors must have manual electric folding mirrors

for this to work
