Exhaust note

Recommended Posts

Was sitting her just thinking

what make you drive fast

I’m just sold on the sound , and even tho I’m not a boy racer , the car makes me feel like that

is this why the normal car guy goes 1st for the exhaust or is it just me

I’ve been in the trade for a long time and have owned many loud V8 ,little pocket rockets but non have made me feel this way

just love my GSF

maybe it still new to me but there is something turning my years down

trying to be grown up about it , without turning into a pest on the roads

The exhaust note when buying a performance car is a large consideration. The sound is a very large part of the joy of sports cars (any car!). This is why the new porker boxsters and caymans with the flat 4 literally hit a flat note and this is mentioned in every review.

I got the Porsche bug a few years back. 1st was a lovely cobalt blue Cayman S 987. It felt special every time I drove it.

2nd a Boxter S 981, then a Macan GTS for the missus.

I was so in love with the Porsche product I got the green light from the missus to have a brand new Cayman 718.

We went to Porsche Cambridge to see Don, it was meant to be a very special day, custom speccing/ordering a new Cayman which I planned to keep forever.

Until I heard it start.

I instantly decided they'd ruined a special car, it didn't sound like a Porsche should.

So I left disappointed and confused as to why they'd changed the engine.

Bought a new TTRS instead, I wouldn't say that sounded glorious, more like very angry.

But as the OP says, it made me feel like a kid again.

It’s important to me as well no point in having all the poise without the noise to go with it.....

I too had the Porsche bug for some years and my last 911 turbo had a europipe stage 2 loud fitted to it, made the whole ownership proposition come  alive 😊
