Cheapest LC 500 V8 ?

I’m going to put it on the LC forum anyway, but I’ve had an email from a contact at Lexus Swindon the car is an LC500 Sonic Red Black interior, Sports Plus Pack HUD +ML .

Four thousand miles up for £66k.... anyone reaching down the back of the sofa yet...😏

I love he LC500, but with the low end of the ISF market teetering around £12k, I just can’t see that an LC is worth £66k - cheapest in the country or not.

IMvHO, I don’t think LCs currently offer that much over the existing F range - especially the RCF and GSF.

I suspect Lexus are really struggling to shift these things in the UK.

Lets hope there will be an LC-F!

I think the LC is targeted more at 911 buyers, it was twice the price of an ISF new and it will be a long long time before they are available for that price imo

I agree, except of IS-F... it seems that buying any other high-end Lexus (bar SUVs) is pretty difficult decision, unless you planning on driving it forever (which might well be possible considering quality), but otherwise if lets say one would get LC for £66k today, 3 years later they would be in very difficult position. High-end coupe for £40k in non-seller privately, Lexus PX will be very poor value and any other PX would be even lower value... So the only option is to upgrade to another Lexus and after LC there will be not much more to upgrade to. Finally, if you can spend £66k, then you can probably spend £76k as well and get the par precisely to your specification.

@C.B - still there is much depreciation in LC and I guess it is number 1 consideration for any potential buyer or current owner. As above majority of supply seems to go via Lexus and Lexus seems to try to control it artificially in a way. In some way that is good for current owners, but in other hand I guess it is always a risk - if Lexus leaves LC supply/demand for open market, the value might dwindle by half in single year.

When I was having the Rcf serviced I had a long look at the LC they had in the showroom.

Lovely thing and I could see some nice touches.

But came to the conclusion it wasn't worth double the price I'd paid for the Rcf.

Funny enough passed a red LC a couple of hours ago here in stratford upon avon followed 2 mins later by a RCF,you don't see that very often.

if it was a member from here i do apologise for pointing at you as i was showing my son.

It wouldn’t be a car for me as shall we say a ‘natural’ progression from an RcF as @Tfp Tim says worth twice the money for my readies no.

But a few on here have gone the route and a fair few more who aren’t members have done it as well.

They are fine cars and a step up in some areas and look special IMO.

If Lexus were targeting the 911, they missed by a mile. Anyone that’s driven both cars will know they are totally different. More 6 series or Mercedes SL I would say.

I don’t think the LC500 has enough power / torque to rival the Germans. I also hate to say it, but I think the LC should have gone FI, leaving the last NA chapter to the GSF and RCF.

I am not unrealistic. I would expect the LC to depreciate much the same a similar coupes down to about 50% of the new price after 3 years. You get nothing for the optional HUD and ML system. The fastest fall is in the first year so the £20K fall reported in the original post is not out of the way.

The mileage of the car is reported but not its date of registration or its history of ownership. Without this detail I find it hard to comment.

The LC is not comparable to the GS-F or RC-F and the  nearest car I have driven to the LC is the AMG GT in terms of feel although the power delivery is somewhat different.

@Bluethunder Nean yes your right I touched on it briefly in my last post they have sold fairly well in comparison to ‘our’ cars.

Various factors probably come into place the engine choice must be one, on how many are left 105 V8’s are registered and 88 Hybrids so as you quite rightly recognise not bad at all for little over a year.

I agree with this. 

Coincidentally I had a look around the ex-demonstrator currently for sale in Ipswich on Sunday and they are without a doubt a very nice car, nothing on the road comes close to such bold design, albeit the interior options are a bit naff. It would be a tough decision for me to trade in the RC-F for one, but if they had an LC-F that may be a different matter.

It's 200kg (happy to be corrected) heavier with same engine.......yet the press never mentioned it. 

If they'd put that hybrid in the RC body I think that would have sold well at the RC price point.

Ref. the Autocar preview, a few comments.

- Wheels - good, another option which look better.

- Brakes - Rubbish. The brakes on my LC are just huge and fill up the wheels!

- Exhaust - If you took off the lower rear trim panel of the LC500 you would see 4 exhaust pipes arranged just as in the photos...

- Air Intakes - Half finished but you can see the intercooler radiators for the turbos.

- Flared Arches - I just can't tell from the pictures.

The pictured car might be 18 months old so the pricing is not out of line with expectations. I am not sure how the Hybrid will fare against the V8 as this is a specialist and enthusiasts car.

This feels very much like the conversation on this very forum about the RC-F in 2015;  Plenty of skepticism and concern about value for money. But look how many RC-F owners there are now on here.

I predict in 2021 all us LC owners of the future will be saying the same about something else

At the time the rcf was selling for 60k ish and the isf I imagine was 20k ish so the rcf wasn’t 3 times the car. Now the rcf can be had for only 10k more than an isf so it is a good choice. If the lc depreciates in the same way then you may be right. Point being the price disparity at the point they are both being discussed this conversation holds water.
