Independent Lexus Specialist Recommendations In Berkshire/Wokingham

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

As per title - as a new owner of my 1st Lexus i'm looking for recommendations for Lexus Independent Specialists.

I don't have any issues at present but would like to know in advance of any recommended Independents before I have any issues that may arise.

Any advice, as always, much appreciated

Cheers, Jeff

I know what you mean!  They do seem to be few and far between.  I'm in SW London so my search area is different to yours (unless there happens to be one around Staines).

I can't imagine much that a Toyota Independent wouldn't know about these cars so I've identified one in Mitcham.  Like you, I don't have an immediate requirement so will be looking out for more options.  In fact I'm also considering having a chat with the garage (in Wimbledon) who was taking care of my old car.  They did some suspension work and a starter and I found them to be competent.  These cars have now been around for quite a while so shouldn't be that difficult.

Another possibility is Lexus Reading, once your car is >10 years old the reduced cost Lexus 'Essential Service' is avaialble. I've had my last two services (1 x minor, 1 x intermediate) there, they're really polite and helpful. I used to use an indy local to my work but they changed ownership and it's a very different place now😟

That's a good shout Andrew as I'm that far away and can easily lose time in Reading. Will pin that one definitely and thanks for the heads up on the reduced costs for  'Essential Service'

Thanks fella.

I can second Lexus Reading, always service with a smile and coffee, biscuits, TV and a newspaper.

Haha! They'e almost insistent that you should have a coffee, it seems discourteous to refuse! I was paying an indy some 80 odd percent of what Lexus Reading charge for essential services

Many thanks for that fellas, sounds like a done deal with Lexus Reading. Will see if I can get a massage with my coffee and bikkies.

@Frosties about the only negative with the 'Essential Service' is you have to pay extra if you need a courtesy car, (I imagine it's free with full price services) and you'll need to book two or three weeks in advance as I don't think they have many loan cars.

I normally get my brother to pick me up (we work in the same office), last time while waiting to pick me up with his Imprezza parked outside they asked him if he would like a Lexus instead, they were amused when he said that he already had one, an IS250, as a second car.......

From what I understand, there is an 'essential service' and a 'value service'.  I was told the prices on the website for cars that are >5 years old is for the Value service.

When I had my value service done, it was identical to the normal servicing.  You still get a service stamp in the book (apparently the Essential service doesn't?) and can make use of a courtesy car for free.  Although, for the cost of £15, I would pay for the insurance excess for the courtesy car to be reduced to £0 from the otherwise £1000.

It can take a few weeks to get a loan car, but I would advise speaking directly to Michael on the service desk as opposed to the central call centre booking service.  One time, before my service was due, my plans changed and I needed the loan car for 2 days instead of 1.  The call centre said it couldn't be done, but one call to Michael later, it was taken care of immediately.

Oh, and last time I was there (admittedly some time ago), they had 2 CT's, 3/4 IS's and an NX in their courtesy car fleet.
