Some work done on the LS460

Recommended Posts

Moderators, please move this if it's in the wrong section.

Three months in and already having some work done on my lovely LS including new Tyres/TPMS sensors, auto transmission fluid change and all new spark plugs. Hopefully that will make it run a bit smoother since it's been shifting a little rough lately and the engine hasn't been running as smoothly as I would expect.

I had a sneaking suspicion that with only 29000 miles since new the car has done a lot of sitting around and probably needed a full sweep of maintenance work done. Hopefully if I do it little by little it won't break the bank.

They told me my front upper control arm bushes had very slight cracks on it but they reckon it's not a replace job yet. I'll probably go with some aftermarket suspension components when I do decide to replace them as Lexus OEM charge £400 per arm! Other than they they gave the old girl the green light!

If you Londoners ever need a great specialist garage, I can recommend Derek at Tech-one in Sidcup. Honestly one of the nicest and honest mechanics I've ever met and extremely knowledgable about Toyota's.

Other than that, I'm still loving life in my LS! No regrets on the purchase whatsoever!

Good to hear regarding the servicing, Lexus parts aren’t cheap as you mention, a front UCA for mine was quoted at £521.00.

I think the later LS models had 2 piece UCAs as well.

Indeed, I was quoted £2400 by Lexus to replace all four UCA's, which just seems silly but then the specialist I took it to said they didn't quite need replacing. So I'm waiting! The car still drives and handles beautifully so I think it's safe to wait.

If there are no advisories on the MOT related to these components I wouldn’t worry, Lexus dealers can be a bit over zealous when it comes to parts you may need....brake discs near to the limit surely accurately measured with a vernier gauge and brake pads are a favourite. If you have a decent independent stick with them.

Was that just one drain and refill? Or the full 10 liters~?

The invoice says 'carry out gear box oil change' and he charged me for three litres of oil, so I think it's the former.
