Rex 450h- which to buy

Recommended Posts

Hi,

i have the option of buying an Rx 450h SE-L premier but high mileage at 113k (2010 at 15k)and Rx 450h SE-I (2011 at 16k) and average mileage at 76k both have been serviced at Lexus throughout.

i have a few questions, would you go for the higher spec but high mileage 2010 over the mid spec and average mileage car? I prefer the look of the higher mileage but the mileage scares me!  If I choose the higher mileage car, would issues could I have that won’t be covered with the warranty?

I am getting an extended warranty but after the three years I won’t be able to cover either I think as they would both be over 10years? Is this correct?

thanks in advance.

Hi with Lexus as long as it’s been regularly serviced and looked after , it will go on forever . High miles is nothing to a well serviced RX, so if you buy the higher mileage one you’re still getting an excellent long-lasting car , as long as it’s been looked after.

Personally I’d go for the 2011 with less mileage. Both are basically the same shape car anyway. But that’s just me.

Hi! I faced the exact same decision as you 4 months ago and bought the higher mileage of the 2 cars.

What sold it to me was Lexus Stockport were also selling, under the approved used banner, an RX with 125k, if the dealers are happy to sell high mileage I’m definitely confident in buying it.

I’ve got an SE-L premier and love it, the big draw for me is the head-up display which I’m not sure how I did without.

Overall though, it’s a lovely place to be and doesn’t show half its miles in condition at all.

Really depends how the mileage was run up... Lots of short round town runs or occasional runs from London to Glasgow. Impossible to know, but wear and tear of the interior may give an indication. Also look at the tyres etc, 4 new tyres can set you back £750.

Wow can they really? I bought Michelin's for £120 each and fitted for £12.50 a corner at Lexus.

Really wouldn't be worried about low mileage cars anymore either. Its more age that seems to affect vehicles nowadays.

Lower milage and newer, are better for the Warranty they should offer.

Get to 130,000??? ( or 120? ) and the warranty 'expires' I think...

Not strictly true. The car has to be under 10 years old and 140,000 miles at the start of the warranty period. The warranty is then valid for two years as long as the car remains serviced at Lexus.
