RCF Tyres prices

Just obtained a price of £840 for x4 PS4S fitted and balanced which I thought was very reasonable.

Anyone else had quotes recently?

Although I'm thinking of waiting until spring as car will just be sat still most of winter.

Good plan holding on, I generally try Camskill for tyre prices although they have messed me about in the past with very cheap prices then failed to deliver. I was pretty pi**ed off a few times but I think they are just the middle-man and rely on other suppliers to deliver the goods.

I generally buy from Camskill and get my local tyre place to fit at £20 per wheel.

PS4S are supposed to be a step up from PSS by all accounts so I'll be replacing my current tyres with them.

Just checked that's a good deal Camskill £996 to just supply

I had Michelin PS4S on the back for 420 fitted last year. 275/30/19 and that was via black circle.

Just booked in to get fronts fitted on Wednesday on black circle for  376 fitted for the pair. They have an offer of 15 off for 2 or 40 off for 4. So mine will be 361 for the pair fitted. 245/35/19.

So may be worth having a look on black circle and seeing what they come out as including the 40 off if you're getting 4?

Thanks also a good price, blackcircles come out about the same price for my postcode. Might be due to wider front at 255. But as it's so close I'd rather support the local business. I believe blackcircle is owned by Michelin now?

Had a pair of  Super Sport fronts fitted at Lexus while it was in for service £397 in total, don't know if there is any advantage with the PS4S, to be honest the Super Sports work well for me, I find the wet weather grip is very good.

I always buy the tyres and then get them fitted by Lexus - £50 for 4.

Dont have to worry about chunks being taken out of the rim either with their fancy machines - they've got all the rubber kit on and its fully automated!

Goodyear Eagles would be my choice.

Do Lexus dealers match tyre shop prices? Mercedes used to, even online, just not special offers etc.. I always had MB fit new tyres.

One of my pet hates/worries is how well and carefully the fitters remove the old balance weights.

I use a very good local tyre place Denmead Tyre Services, the care they took over my Vossen wheels a while back and again in the past on many occasions has been excellent. I buy mail order and pay them £20 per wheel to fit and worth every penny.

They are also used by specialist car restorers Jim Stokes the guy told me the other day he fitted tyres to the wheels of an old Alfa that were £20K to get made.

Hi Mark. The PS4s are the replacement for the Super Sports.

My local dealer at Hedge End does. They’ll match any fully fitted price. 👍

That's good to know because I'll be going there for my servicing, although I'll probably stick to my local trusted fitter for the tyres.

I wouldn't put ps4s on an RX either

While I agree Lexus are a good choice and I would never use a kwik fit type place - this centre restores alloy wheels so they know how to care for, and are at pains to re-assure, they take care of the wheels.

I meant on the RCF I'd choose the Goodyear eagles.

They're just a better all round tyre and better in colder weather than the PS4s are

I'd be interested too because I've always thought that the Pilot Super Sports was the tyre of choice, I've certainly had them on virtually every performance car I've had for the last few years. I was also under the impression that the PS4s is a step up from the PSS.

BMW M240i goodyears vs michelin ps4

The michelins are great on a warm day but in the wet on a relatively cold day the Goodyears are definitely stickier.

Ive actually bought some for the IS now - Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3. The IS probably doesnt even need them but they were cheap so why not

No the PS4S tyres are the replacements, the PS4 tyre is completely different.

That's what I said.... Lower case 's' was a typo...

I've always found Michelin tyres to be superb in the wet, even in the cooler months. Tried, briefly, Goodyears on my CLS55 and couldn't keep it straight under power. Michelin were very sure footed. Lasted well also, if one considers 9-11k miles before replacing at 3mm, good 😎

According to EVO tests while the eagle laps faster in the wet by a small margin the PS4S had better braking distance in the wet. No mention is made of temps that I noticed.

£ for £ though the eagle is probably better value.
