Aircon Drain Pipe Location On An RX400h

Recommended Posts

Hi

I'm trying to locate the aircon drain pipe on a 2007 RX400h (righ hand drive).

We're getting lots of fogging up in the car when it's left for short periods of time and get the feeling that something's not draining.  The sunroof drains have been checked and they are fine, the mats are dry and I wanted to check the aircon drain pipe but after ages of searching just can't find it.

Does anybody have any ideas on where it might be as I'm getting a headache banging my head against this wall 😉.

Thanks

Can't help you with the exact location but do you get the puddle of water under the car if it's stood for a few minutes? All a/c set to auto, ignition on and mine's quick to form a puddle about 3 feet from the front of the car. I'd also check the cabin filter which (I think) is behind the glove box.

Take everything out of the boot and see if there's any water or dampness on the floor pan in that area. Apparently the 400h had a problem with water ingress either through faulty rear light unit seals or a welded seam also at the rear. You should be able to find lots of info about it if you search this forum.

EDIT: Never needed to use them myself but I believe these dehumidifier bags work well, although that's not curing the problem, of course.

SECOND EDIT: here you go:

Note: You'll scare yourself to death with that thread. Take out the two spring loaded compartments from the boot. Unless there's standing water there's no problem. A touch of seepage/dampness around the bottom of the rear light clusters is not the problem described above.
