Tyre "skipping" on full lock

Thats a bit more reassuring as thats what it feels like for me also (well perhaps not a brick but some level of force against the wheel with a slight shudder through the car) did you manage to resolve the issue?

There is no issue. It's a symptom of wide, low profile summer tyres in cold weather

My previous IS also did it in the cold.  I live on a slope, so it was particularly bad, to the point that I sometimes couldn't make what was a wide corner.  Always the same though; when the weather warmed up, it went away.  In my case at least there wasn't a fault and it didn't get any worse, or occur in warmer weather, so I just put up with it.

Some apt replies already - just saw this post.  My MB would start doing this - and if you are used to your car doing something that's fine, otherwise you know something has changed and that's annoying. 

In my case it would be tyre related (although once I had the sway bar done as well as the tyre so can't say for sure).  Then it would go away for 2-3 years and back again.  I don't drive much and park for long periods so I have problems with tyres getting old/ hard spots, etc. 

No reason why your tyre wear should be uneven - so that obviously needs to be addressed.  Alignment might just fix it.  If the tread is running low that could also contribute.  The tyres are obviously around 3 years old only so can't be an age issue (even Continentals last longer).

Might even be that you've kerbed it a few times and the tyre is a bit affected.  Presumably it doesn't lose any more air pressure than the others?

I still think it is just a Lexus thing, as I mentioned above I had a few rear driven cars and none of them done any "skipping".

Today I took my wife's car to work, her car has 45 profile tyres (same as my GS) with less than 3mm of thread at the front and at exact the same conditions (outside temp. and cold tires) the wheels did not skip a bit, may be because she drives a front wheel drive car. Anyway, I think it is suspension geometry design by Lexus, strange to me to be honest.

It's actually was so bad (tire skipping) in a last couple of weeks that I will check tire thread today and might make an appointment with Lexus, well, unless I need a new front tires. It actually ridiculous how front tires move forward at low speeds with more than half a lock, I never ever had such a feeling on any car I owned! 

Do all rear driven Lexus has this issue! Shocking!

You're tyre wear is pretty good but I wonder if adding a few PSI will help with your "skipping" and even out the wear a smidge?

Ok - mine are the Yokohama Bluearth that were on from new - always been replaced like for like when replacements needed - would be interesting to know if the effects may be linked to different tyres too in that case

I have as per book tire pressure i.e 2.4 bar, I tried last week 2.7 bar on all four wheels and the ride was hursh and uncomfortable so I dropped it down back to 2.4bar, I might try add a little more pressure just for experimenting purposes.

Who did the tracking and alignment - in the past on other cars I have had common tyre places do this and make a complete pigs ear out of it leading to numerous problems.

I am not sure, I tried to find a paper slip this morning but somehow I don't have it. When I was buying a car the seller did show me results from 4 wheel tracking that was done.

I guess another proper tracking is required or proper winter tires! 🙂

If not sogging driver seat base (I mentioned in another thread) and this skipping tire issue the car would be perfect!

I would get a full 4 wheel alignment done either by Lexus or an independent specialist who comes recommended by others. I have one place near me in Berkshire that I found as they do a number of premium cars from various dealers - they sorted my cars when other major tyre places messed up a BMW and another time a Honda Accord...

My GS 250 does this and my fathers Porsche Boxster does it to a far worse extent. It's to do with the steering geometry that's used. All my tyres and his have worn evenly, it's just a "thing" they do.

I don't like that thing, I don't get used to understeer at 5-10mph and don't think it is right. Might five Lexus a call and see what they think of it.
