Can anyone recommend a specialist to work on my 3UZ / LS430?

Recommended Posts

Hi Chaps

Unfortunately i've been had when buying an LS430, it's got suspect valve seat recession. I think the best way forward would be to buy some heads from a non-gassed scrapper then get them swapped over. I'd like someone to do the job that is comfortable with pulling 3uzs apart (and putting back together!). Anyone have any recommendations for specialists?

You would probably be better off getting a engine from Paul Frost the 430 breaker he will have a couple in stock I should think.

The breakdown and rebuild of one of these engines is not a thing to be taken on by any back st garage and specialists charge premium rates.

Yes having read a bit more about it I think you are probably right, easier and cheaper to chuck another lump in. Really frustrating this car, right when finances are stuffed too 😣

From what year were softer Valves used by Lexus?  Whats the mileage on the Car you mention?

No idea about year of softer valves? 220k+  it's the LPG that's worn the seats, no lube kit fitted!

Where and when did you buy it.

Presume this is a result of a compression test or an "experts" opinion?  I remember seeing an earlier LS400 for sale with over 300k miles on single point LPG

I cannot help with original question but I've read on here a few times that LS400/430 does not suffer from valve seat recession and that flashlube is not required because the valves are hardened

Hi sorry to hear of your car trouble.  I have used Dave at Lex Tek, Sheffield.  He's good guy and knows the LS well.

Plus one for Dave at Lex Tek, not far from Rother Valley Country Park. Recommended
