ECU Capacitor kit on ebay

Recommended Posts

Is this seller a fellow forumite? They are selling ECU kits for older models as well. I'm asking as it will be comforting to know that the seller has put together kits with due diligence to sourcing non fake capacitors etc.

Well, I took the plunge and ordered a set. I found a local PCB repair workshop who is soldering them in as I write this!

Removing the ECU (called ECM in the workshop manual) was a major pain in the a#s#. I had anticipated that it would be difficult having read as much about it online as i could. Most people had probs getting the glove box out.... I found that relatively easy. Perhaps the MK4 is slightly different to the Mk3 (which is what most online info seems to cover on this topic) but I found getting access to the two top nuts on the ECU bracket to be almost impossible.... butI I got there in the end.

I had to do a lot of dismantling to get it out....It will be a minor miracle if I can put it all back together again and the car starts!
