LS430 Preventative maintenance

Recommended Posts

So my annual service is coming up. 2004 LS430, 123,000 miles. After a couple of years spending big on fluids, belts etc. last year's service was cheap and routine. Quote from Osaka - " I would love to charge you more, but it doesn't need anything."

So my question is, should I factor in anything extra for this service? I am thinking control arm bushes, after seeing Haylands' on his recent build thread at a very similar mileage. There's a fair bet mine are past their best at this age and mileage.

It is a case of ordering things in advance and planning it in for time (Osaka are an hour and a half away), so anything else the panel think might be a good idea to order at this stage?

Cheers

Jon

I've found that my concerns over owning an LS430 are pointless. I've spent too much time thinking about what "may" go wrong.  I would just have it serviced and get all the bushes and joints checked and go from there. My last one was a 2001 on 118k with no joint or bush problems.

I totally agree, been in exactly the same situation, thinking about what might need doing, to find all ok. Take Phil’s advice and just enjoy. Mine is now on 97500, mot coming up in June, I will just take it all as it comes, and if a problem, hello Paul Frost. Happy motoring 😜

In four weeks we have a road trip to Salzburg planned and the Celsior/LS is the car we're taking.  Originally I considered taking my Volvo due to having "what if" syndrome, but where would the enjoyment in that be! V8 or diesel....no contest!

Callipers checked/re-greased???

I'm still benefitting from a thorough service done in Japan 4k ago so I'm fairly confident they would do a good job!

Brilliant. We often go to Islay.

It's all beautiful!

Safe journey.

You should be able to see if the bushes need changing, they are viewable with just a bit of jacking up. If they are well worn you will have a similar feel to warped discs, a pulsating pedal...

If they look like this they will need changing...

FYI, I change brake fluid every three years and coolant at 5 years, makes me feel better....!!
