Well, I am very pleased to report another clean MOT pass for my 2002 LS430, all good, no advisories. This is the 5th clear mot and I have had very little spend, other than religious servicing and preventative items, I.e. new radiator. In that time I have driven 40000 trouble free miles and plan to continue doing the same, I  must confess encouraged by Malc and The-Acre  who demonstrate total confidence in their LS  Lexi.

Each time I consider that I should buy something newer, hopefully more reliable, I consider just how brilliant and reliable my current car is, and basically can’t bear to part,  even with now, a lowly 100,000 miles. The ride , comfort and performance,  I know could not be bettered,  even by spending a lot of money, on another Lexus, so why do it ? I have my LS serviced by Paul Frost and mot’d next door at a very thorough garage, who casually tell me ‘yeh we see very few problems with these LS’s’ . In conclusion, don’t believe the hype about problems with LS 430’s ....but ....... do check the service history and ownership, mot history is I think a very good guide, particularly, advisories. Cheers, Roger

What I also forgot to mention , I now run my Lexus on Superunleaded and have done for past 3 months, my choice , and happy with it. On my last MOT the emissions on the Lambda were 1.03 right on the limit, although that was not the reason I switched. This time surprisingly 1.02. The conditions were pretty identical with a good 40 mile motorway run to get there. I do advise a friend who lives in France but returns to UK for mot, to fill up with BP Ultimate on journey, and his Lexus has passed for the past 4 years. Prior to that he had been advised the vehicle was unlikely to pass the following year because of emissions. Might help somebody 🤓

Phew! Passed the MOT yesterday with no advisories.

Tried a new MOT place rather than the usual Ford dealership (they didn't send me a reminder this year and I'd fogotten how close it was to expiry) and expected one unusual issue may cause a fail, but passed.

The guy who tested took half the time I usually expect and charged less. When I said to him before the test I'm hopeful it will pass as a French trip is planned, he said "of course it will pass - its a Lexus"  Told me he had had an LS430 in the past, and what  a Car!

Too hot to go for a twenty mins drive before the test even though the A/C working, so emisions shall we say were "iffy".

Good news! Mine also passed 3 weeks ago with no problems.

Even though mine has needed the dreaded starter motor repair and a new cambelt etc. - two expensive jobs - it hasn't cost a lot to run over the 9 years I've had it.  It rarely needs attention, and it's probably worth 40% more than I paid for it.

But Phil, yours has yet reached puberty! 😄

Well she is 16 so her hormones are all over the place.  We did have a little father and daughter chat before she went in and it seems to have worked!  Hard to believe that I've had this Celsior nearly a year.
