Rx400h cam belt change.

Are there any special tools needed for this or is it a case of setting cams and crank in the right place and swapping the belt.

I'd let Lexus or a trusted specialist do it, Lexus do it for a fixed price unless you want to change the water pump and followers at the same time. and then as the strip down is already done you will only pay for the parts and maybe an extra 1/2 hour. The work will also be guaranteed as well.

Why? If someone is capable of doing it themselves then why not do so?

I was an avid 'hobbyist' car mechanic for many years before a back injury put the kibosh on that. Over the years I've saved myself literally thousands of pounds in labour charges; I've learned a hell of a lot; I've enjoyed every minute of it and I got a nice warm fuzzy feeling knowing that I've done a good job and I got a sense of achievement.

I'm with you on this, I get much satisfaction from doing some of my own work.  Sadly my 1930's garage was built for tiny Ford Populars so its all got to be done on the drive.

No special tools needed. I only had to buy a puller for the harmonic balancer which I didn't have before.
