Where can I get a proper independent Lexus service?

Recommended Posts

I've got a 64 plate GS 300h (hybrid). Have had it a few years.

It's in immaculate condition, with 64k on the clock. I've added just about 4k in the last 12 months.

It's now due an MOT and according to  Lexus a major service for £625. Frankly, I am neither prepared to pay that, nor am I able to!

Given I'm keeping this car until forever, I have no interest in resale value so I'm not interested in getting the log book stamped by Lexus,

However, where can I find a proper independent garage that specialises in Lexus? When I google it, I just get these ads from local garages pretending to be experts, but they clearly aren't.

Is there a database anywhere of independent Lexus specialists? )For info, I'm in Stockport, South Manchester)

I'm not aware of such a list, but it's a good idea.

Lex-Tek Auto's comes highly regarded but is the other side of Sheffield from you, approx 1hr 25mins away.

You are right. We should have such a list on this website.

There have been a few attempts to put forward names of Indys, but I feel that we should have one formal place headed perhaps

"Indies recommended by individual members" and to which we could each add as and when.

It could be lodged under GENERAL LEXUS FORUM ?

I always think questions like this are a bit derogatory to many excellent mechanics and garages out there.

It's a hybrid, so yes, that side of it probably does need a specialist or the standalone Lexus Hybrid Health Check for £60.

However, the rest of the car is just that - a car - and any trusted and/or recommended garage/mechanic will be able to do the work, no need to take it to a Lexus specialist. If you happen to have a specialist nearby then fair enough, but don't overlook other places that have good reputations just because they don't specialise in any given brand.

Fair point,well made Herbs. Thanks.

So I mean "Lexus Indy or any other competent mechanic/Garage".

Lex-tekautos Sheffield. Last 2 annual services done on my 450h and good price as well as great service. Dave is ex Lexus and knows his stuff.Ask nicely and he will provide a courtesy car (Mk l  rx300 ) then drive down the road to the country park and spend a few hours round the lakes in a lovely setting.Check his website for contact details.

Your car may be old enough to qualify for Lexus essential care.

Basically reduced price servicing for older cars, but done by Lexus main dealers.

Also, won’t pay I can relate to but can’t pay?! Did you not consider servicing costs when you purchased the car? What if something needs replacing?

I hope whatever you do your wallet remains unbruised.

I also would suggest Lex-tek autos,  very knowledgeable guy, ex Lexus Sheffield.

How can we get the MODS to create a new Heading as I suggested in the third contribution above, into which each recommendation can be lodged, perhaps by geographical area?

Not everyone with a luxury car has a luxury bank balance to go with it.

We got our RX for medical reasons after I suffered a serious back injury and the RX is the most comfortable car for me, but running it is not easy.

Another way to bring down the cost of a Lexus service is to become a Gold member of this site, saving 15% on all Lexus costs, or around £94 on a major service alone.

But, not all Lexus Dealerships participaate in the Scheme Mike.
