How long do your tyres last

I'm really surprised that a Lexus dealer would consider such a thing as putting cheap low rated tyres on a 470 BHP car that they surely know well. When I bought mine it had the factory fitted Michelin PS4's so luckily being very low mileage they hadn't been changed.

I’m amazed they were willing to sell a car, like you say, with 470bhp with rubbish rubber on. Anyway, I knew what I was getting myself into and decided I wouldn’t enter autumn with them on. They are also a hell of a lot cheaper than the RF’s on my last 2 cars! Looking forward to seeing what the difference is with the Michelin’s on.

just had them fitted and as soon as I looked at my rear near side I saw some damage that I know wasn’t there before. I pointed it out and I had taken a before pic anyway. I’ve also subsequently spotted where paint has also come off by the wheel badge. The driver side wheel looks spot on.

I've emailed them and sent various pics. There was one small area of damage which I caused prior to today, but the rest is new.

Bloody fitters! I hope you get it sorted at no cost to yourself.

Thanks.

I've been honest and said that part of the damage is me, but like I say, the other 2 bits are not.

Who knows what they'll say.

I doubt I'll get anywhere.

how long has it been since you had them powder coated? you need to leave it at least a week before fitting tyres as its still soft

It was @Big Rat who had them done I believe, so ages ago. Well before my ownership.

Bit late to the conversation...

I am running the wider setup of MPS4S tyres all round.

So far the rears have completed over 20k miles including 10 laps of the Nordschleife and still have about 3mm of tread left.

In contrast, I ran Conti Sport 6 tyres the year before (including a Ring Trip) and they lasted 10k.

I am surprised they lasted so long (I once went through a set of Toyo's on my old S2000 in 6.5k miles).

Needless to say, MPS4S are my tyre of choice for now.  They still have some life left 🙂

And no... I don't drive like Nanna Moon 😉

Yes I was surprised too. They gave me a written quote for the lower grade tyres after a health check. I asked them to confirm in writing they were like for like replacements, which caused them to realise and admit their mistake. My invitation for them to honour their first price was not accepted. My takeaway is that one should not assume a dealer will know exactly what should go on the car.

Update

The tyre supplier has admitted liability and will pay for 80% of the refurb cost at my chosen refurb specialist. 80% being as I had already slightly kerbd the wheel, which is completely fair.

Positive outcome. Very good customer service.

I'm glad they took ownership of the issue and agreed to compensation. I've just received confirmation my refurb payment has been processed and will be in my bank by the end of the week. Fair play to the supplier they have looked after me and I would use them again, however I be will keeping a very keen eye on the next tyre fitter!

I obviously had the fronts replaced shortly after and the fitters (even when using protective covers) marked one of the wheels, but did not strip off any paint.

I hadn't heard anything from the supplier until today, was pleasantly surprised to read their response.

Kudos to them.
