Personally I’d stick with an ISF and save your pennies 👍

@Flytvr makes a good point. For what must be near double the money is it near double the car or double the fun. It's a tricky one. On the other hand money in the bank is doing nothing.

I highly recommend owners of 2010+ isf swapping to the GSF. Especially those with a white or grey one. Sunroof would be good too.

no bias here of coz *smirk*

Just do it, life is too short 😁

The GSF cabin is nicer than the RCF's, but I personally prefer the external appearance of the coupe.

The back seats are certainly useable in the RCF, much more comfortable than I was expecting.

Hi all, firstly apologies for commenting on this post right away (iv only just signed up but been a loc member quite some years ago then went over to the german side owning rs’s & amgs but the gsf is just a stunner so im back lol).

Right the car in question here is for sale by praters near milton keynes. Iv been to see it wednesday this week test drove it & paid a deposit.

Btw it does have 2 keys & a keycard.

The dealer doesnt have the logbook for it but said i could drive it away & he would fill it in & id have it but i didnt feel comfortable so im waiting for him to have the logbook before i part with my money.

Theres a few issues though which worry me.

1. The car is listed as having covered 14k miles infact it has just shy of 20k. I noticed this on the trst drive, when questioned he said its an error. Well if it is which surely it is why dont you correct it as its misleading.

2. Theres absolutely no service history for the vehicle. The service book has not been stamped by lexus or even a independent specialist. I rung lexus being the supplying dealer they checked main network & its not been to any lexus dealer for any maintenance whatsoever. The dealer did show me a reciept for service which he claims his local garage has carried out at a cost of £500 when he took the car in.

3. The front carbon spoiler looks fake, it is badly faded & is almost silver grey in color. I was questioning myself whether its had a bump & its been resprayed or wrapped. It looks terrible. Iv not seen another gsf in the flesh so not sure is it meant to look like this? Pause & zoom in on the video on walkaround.

4. If you google praters reviews & read the bad reviews left you will want to walk away. & iv experienced few of the same issues already.

All This worries me as iv already paid a deposit. Its just when i came back home & thought it all over i knew i shouldnt have paid a deposit but you know what the pressure can be like.

So what do you guys advise?

Its got no service record would you still buy? This is a specialist motor, Its done 20k surely the last owner would have wanted to look after it, it doesnt make sense. Its done 6k miles more than advertised & some of the story telling told by dealer doesnt add up. The car itself is gleaming, bodywork & interior very clean.

Any help be much appreciated. Thank you.

Ps i do still own a Toyota Altezza all them years :)

I might be wrong, but servicing on Lexus is mileage related (10000 / 12000 can’t remember which) or yearly - whichever comes first.

Lexus (and Toyota) don’t have the extended mileage or mileage dependant servicing like the VAG group.

Because the car doesn’t seem to have the history the age requires i’d check the t+c of the warranty.....

My lads gt86 has to be serviced +\- 1 month or +\- 1000 miles of the requirements to maintain the warranty (5 years) so I would presume Lexus would be the same. Pragmatically it makes sense to ensure the car is seen regularly and checked to allow them to offer the long warranty period.

I stand corrected if I’m wrong.

Getting back to the blue GSF, taking a step back why spank £60-70k on a car and not service it to the manufacturers recommended intervals???

like someone has already said move along - there’ll be another one for sale soon, that’s been looked after and cared for.

Yes thats exactly my point, why spend all that money & then not service it to requirements. Just cant get my head around it. Like i said earlier its also coming from a dealer with very bad reviews. Gutting as i had plans for it already, luckily i haven't placed any orders for the parts.

Walk away, service history is king. I wouldn't have bought one without full lexus history, never mind missing history, but like you say, cars can do funny things to you, it's like they're subliminally saying "buy me" sometimes 😂

Like the others say, another one will come.

A deposit has been paid yet the vehicle is still advertised for sale.

Why would someone pay £500 for an independent service when it would be cheaper at a Lexus dealer?

The spoiler has been wrapped by the look of it - or a cheap one replaced the damaged original. The carbon should look exactly the same as the rear spoiler.

No service history, and I doubt it has had the fuel pump recall done - Get your refund back and WALK AWAY.

GSF is a cracker, nice to see another potential owner joining us!

Something fishy about that front carbon as you pointed out, i doubt a light reflection would make it look so horrendous, would defo be looking into that, also there was a member on here who had seen the car driving and parked around before it went to Milton Keynes, I am convinced he said it had definitely had body work done, but cannot recall to which part.

If there is no service history then you have two options.. 1. run away 2. use it as a haggling point and put your foot on their throat about it 😛

Also in general it just bugs me that a car isn't with a main dealer, I have real distrust in independent garages (due to a poor history with them) and I'd call BS on the £500 service that has apparently been carried out... and then just for the bants it seems, doesn't have the log book. Sceptical Kieran is Sceptical 😉

However, there is unlikely to be anything mechincally wrong if it has just been driven day to day, I'm at 35k with mine and it is still as smooth as ever, plus you have added bonus of it being under warranty with Lexus, but I would be inclined to check ths cars history for potential incidents. Plus you may wish to just go get it serviced by Lexus or get a service plan to negate having to pay a lump sum as soon as you buy the car.

The only poopy thing is that you've already given a deposit, minimises your leverage a smidge, but I would be inclined to ask for it back whilst you research the car further, takes the pressure off you that you've 'commited' to the car in the dealers eyes.

Further questions always welcome 😄

Lexus are within their rights to refuse warranty as there is no service history / stamp in the book.

funnily enough after I posted, I read the other posts and it did dawn on me about this, shame for such a nice car to go to waste 😞

Thanks guys for all your replies. Im going to ring them monday & ask for deposit back as it just doesnt add up. If its had no maintenance done it definitely wouldnt have had the fuel pump recall done. It is a shame as its a lovely car & IMO the best color combo.

I dont know why they have it still advertised even though i paid the deposit on wednesday this week. The reviews left for them does not reassure me the slightest. Has anyone read them lol. Going by this i doubt i even get my deposit back 😞

Does anyone have any pics of the front bumper so i can see how the carbon lip is meant to look, surely like the rear. It honestly is real bad.

The car itself is hpi clear, bodywork does look all original to me with no tell tales of any major paint or bodywork being carried out. Perhaps just the front bumper was damaged? The trim around the front grille i think is meant to be chrome or dark chrome? Thats definitely been resprayed in gloss black.

Front trim is dark chrome, only the trim around windows is regular chrome. Unfortunately I don’t have any front close ups of my car on my phone and I’m currently out, maybe someone else will chip in later with a front end pic, but the front carbon does look suspect!

Sorry, I only have one of my rear spoiler on me and I’m nowhere near the car at the moment but the carbon on the front lip looks exactly like the rear spoiler.

It’s prone to stone chips though so I guess that’s one reason why it could have been badly touched up?

As mentioned above this car was seen  eariler in the year by a fellow member. The rear bumper had a scrape and the front windscreen was cracked IIRC. It’s such a shame that a car like this hasn’t been cared for especially as Lexus service costs are very reasonable for such a car. I did wonder why this car was still knocking around but now we have our answer.

It also bugged me why this car wasn’t at a main dealer before all of this information. I know that the Lexus dealers are keen to keep the GSFs in the network if they are good enough. Mine was purchased from a private seller by Lexus Newcastle. The last GSF that hung around for a while was at a non Lexus dealer that was next to a Lexus dealer which also worried me and prevented me from pursuing it.

The right car will turn up. Happy to help with any questions 👍🏾

Thanks once again for all the input guys. After reading all the posts looks like previous owner really neglected it which is a shame because its such a special rare car & if he had cared for it it would have shown on resale. Anyway i think its best to leave it & walk away. Even if i bought a new grille with the carbon lip (which i suspect would be near the 1k mk?) i would still always be doubting myself about any other damage the car may have had. And of course no record of any maintenance. Seen the white gsf advertised quite tempted but its the earlier model & doesn't have AVS. Would you guys recommend a car with or is it really not noticeable?   Thanks

I have never driven one without AVS but from what I have read on here, I think the ride is good enough on cars without the AVS. I just wanted it as I think that I would always ‘want’ AVS if I purchased a car without it.  Silly I know, but that’s just me.

Try it and see what you think. It’s all personal preference I guess. The white is a lovely colour.
