Rear Exhaust - Need A Replacement

 Share

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

My wife (well I will blame her) knocked the rear exhaust box (IS 200 SE Y plate 2001) and it has moved out of position.

I eventually noticed when it had burnt the rear bumper round the exhaust.

Had Lexus have a look, and they have said rear exhaust box is bent - will require a new exhaust box. I has gone in and up to the right, so the exhaust is behind the bumper and to the right, so about a 1/5th is behind the bumper hence the burning.....

Cost £211

Labout £115

Total inc vat £326.50

Over the years been ripped of by our friendly Kwik Fit Fitters so dont fancy going down that route, could do if reasonable - just dont like them.

I am going to have a look this weekend and see if I can "unbend" it.

I was wondering out of interest any suggestions for getting either a second hand box and/or a performance one for less than a new Lexus standard.

Thing is do not want a noisy one or pay to much dosh, chromes cool.

As for the rear bumper, Ill need to get that sorted when I have some spare dosh.

Any advice appreciated.

Hi mate

your best bet is to go to a custom fit exhaust specialist.

I have just had a double exhaust put on mine for £350 from the cat back and it has a life time guarantee with it.

They can make it as big, small loud or quiet as you want.

Kwik fit are just muppets

I took my IS to them when I first had my powerflow (phunts old one) fitted and they wanted to replace the whole thing instead of just dropping a middle box in :crybaby: The quoted me over £600 for a new exhaust

Took it to topgear in burnley and they fitted a nice powerflow midbox for £40 inc!!!

And they are bloody nice chaps!

I think they have lots of other branches so may be worth looking at them also mate.

Thanks for the replys.

Ive joined up as a GOLD now, so can get in touch direct - just waiting for the confirmation etc.....

So how much is a reasonable price for second hand rear exhaust?

Also I live in Medway - Kent.

I am thinking going for a sports rear, but then will want a new manifold, air filter, new head and bingo up goes my credit card !!

Slippery slope.

Well impressed with the cars on this site, classy.

Did you get this sorted ??

Been away but i have a backbox from a 2001 (Y) SE in my shed.

Covered 30k miles - no probs.

If you wanna come and get it, it's yours ....

You can even have the chrome trim that's on it - bit grubby that though :)

And weather + time permitting, could even fit it i guess.

Thanks Tony you've just reminded me that I have a virtually brand new one sitting in the garage.

Was on the car for approx 5 miles from the delivery transporter in the compound to our dealership.

Must get rid of it
