Hello

My lexus gs450h exhaust got too rusted and broke of.. Not sure how to upload picture so will try to explain. It snapped in mid exhaust section just past that silencer looking thing- before last joint with back exhaust section, where bolts have springs in them.. Found a guy who will try to weld it for me but I need to take it of. Had a quick look under the car last night and found bolts rusted and seized to death so possibly will have to cut/ drill them. Also there is a sensor on each side which goes inside and plugs in near centre console. Last thing I want is to unscrew these sensors from exhaust just in case they will snap.. does anybody know if that sensor plug from inside will fit through the hole to pull it out so I can leave sensors on exhaust?

Also where you guys getting replicas made, if that welding fix not gonna hold me for too long? Checked used one online sitting at £600.. and when you getting replica made, do they just weld stainless pipes on your cat converters or they supply everything like cat, o2 sensors etc?

Thank you

Sorry to hear that Paulius.

The o2 sensors in the exhaust should unscrew and they're expensive to be near chopping and welding, so I'd want them removed. You'll need to swap them over if you buy a new section anyway. Mine looked rusted on but unbolted just fine, so give yours a try.

Sorry but I don't know of any exhaust specialist on your area (Inverness). Hopefully someone else does. I had a custom middle/rear made up by Tony Banks in Leeds, as have several other forum members.

Good luck getting this sorted.

Full catback stainless steel will set you back about £1000. I might be wrong in pricing been a few years since i last dealt with this. Only other option is to go Lexus and get the replacement exhaust but good luck with that £££ 😂

Try to find SS exhaust place local to you and give them a call. Depending on the condition they might only replace the section that's broken.

I think that bespoke exhaust fabricators are springing up in more places.  My cat back system, fitted in Shrewsbury a few weeks ago, was supposed to be £600 but cost £50 more as they had to cut back past one of the O2 sensors.  As stated, they remove and re-fit the sensor.....Good luck.  Mark.

Hi again

So I got it of and its welded. For putting it back do you reuse same gaskets at both sides of the middle section? 1 metal woolen at flange side and 2x near cats. Cant find where to get new ones. If reusing same, would you apply some engine gasket sealant or something?

Or maybe someone knows sizes of gaskets so I could look for some universal or aftermarket?

I believe flange diameter inside 2.4inch- outside 2.99inch. Cant find these 2 flat sizes

Cheers

Paul
