It's not green but still looks good, if I wasn't heading off on a road trip next week I wouldn't be looking but as i am it seems like a good idea to maybe go shopping....

Any comments will be greatly appreciated, is the radiator issue and air suspension the main concern for the 430?

Photos are favourable.

Check MOT history with DVLA site

3 months mechanical warranty is lousy

no mention of warranty on electrics, so even lousier

I wonder if they are aware of The Consumer Rights Legislation ??

Probably Phil.

But if he wants the car and pays tax monthly that will ease the burden.

And yes, the radiator and suspension are in my experience the only things to be concerned about. The radiator being easy and fairly inexpensive.

Reading the reviews it looks like the cars that were being complained about had probably been taken in part x for the vehicles he buys at auction, main dealers do not sell to independants they block most of there part exchange vehicles  as they do not want comebacks, so his claim on that is suspect.

I accept that most of the reputable small dealers try to sell honestly but it is always should the buyers first thought that they don't.

I've had the following response "Thank you for your email and you are very welcome to come and view the car on Friday this week. I appreciate all of your questions but I would prefer if you came to see the car. I have been selling Lexus for the last 15 years and know the cars very very well and the condition of this car reflects the asking price."

I'm not that mechanically minded and would probably buy on looks which is not the best way to buy a car so I think I'll leave this one. Thanks for all your help.

What I don't like about it is the way he advertised it, no one can see the reg number so cannot check MOT history for rust or corrosion

I find this not wanting the buyer to know a bit off tbh. BUT I guess if one has the interest one can always just phone and the seller will give that detail I would think

Personaly, I would not use phone, partly cause of cost but mainly I want things in writing (he's a commercial seller) but he has not given an email & someone has to join ebay to make written contact with him!!? 'Personaly' I would not bother going further, a commercial seller should have an email available in any add, there's other questions I would want to know on a 430...cant even remember seeing a car on sale without an email

A good decision Mike.

The reluctance to commit one`s self in writing speaks volumes in my opinion.

Personaly I would not buy 'any' LS unless I could see the MOT for rust and or worse still corrosion issues on the underside, which would *probably be on the MOT........^it's not mandatory these are put on the mot, in the case of this car it might be the reason the reg number is not showing.

Ah yes, this is the importer I bought mine from and they are already converted to MPH.  He also has the really beautiful black one that was for sale when I went there over a year ago so he may be open to a good offer.  Actually the black one was so superb I very nearly went for it, but having had two I wanted the facelift version.

SO a good importer then?

Did you get a discount at all Phil

A friend of mine is after a Celsior also later this year.

I had to change my clocks myself.

Just thought if someone is willing to pay 6k for a ls430 ...with 110k .... that someone might consider one for 6k with 37k on it.

I do if I am honest love the white, although its a bugger to keep clean,

The best colour I have had was a silver its like I never had to wash her, I suppose the white one gets more love because shes white and shows the dirt more readily

Why would a phone call cost anything these days? Also, the advert has links to their website which had all the contact details including the email address.  You're not always allowed to advertise email addresses on ebay so this is the best alternative.

They are certainly an experienced importer. I didn't exactly get a discount as mine hadn't been with them long, although I did negotiate a better trade in on my GS300.  I remember driving behind yours and thinking how good it looks in white!  The thing with buying a recent import is that you have something that should be free of rust and strictly maintained which gives you a confident start I think.  It's hard to see in the photos but it looks like it may even be non air suspension.

    1. 1. If you were to consider buying a Hybrid model over 5 years old, would you be worried about the reliability of the Hybrid system?

      • Not really as Hybrid systems are always reliable
      • Not if it had a Manufacturers Warranty on the Hybrid system
      • I would not buy a Hybrid model over 5 years old
