Rear Camera and moisture

My previous car, a hybrid Mercedes, had a reversing camera; my first such experience of this. When engaging reverse, on occasion one could hear a flap lift and the camera would display; indeed there was a menu function to lift the cover to clean the camera, not that I needed to in more than 100,000 miles.

On the ES there’s a reversing camera, but it is next useless in this season, and picks up all the rural grime and spray I travel through.

Has anyone devised a solution, and solution might be the answer, to keep this clean? Would that I have to put the car in P, get out, wipe the camera, and reverse into my driveway! I’ve got to dodge a few other vehicles, and the photo below shows one, my 1980 Land Rover Series 3 long wheelbase; invisible to the dribbles on the camera!

Thank you

My Range Rover Sport was terrible for muck collecting on the rear screen and camera. I used RainEx to good effect and this keeps the lens clear for a much longer stretch. (Memo to myself. Why haven't I treated the cameras on our NX and LC...?).

At this time of year I cant be bothered waxing the car so Ive been using spray on rinse off solutions

Stumbled across Turtlewax dry and shine, just spray on a wet car and rinse off, will leave it beading very well. Must say it seems to be working on the reversing camera too

I usually use the boot before/after every journey, so just run my thumb over the lens each time I open it... one day I'll get around to cleaning the rest of the car!

That’s me and my poor choice of solid black 😂

I’ve quickly learned to do this too - I think of it like rubbing Buddha’s Belly for luck (or in this case - vision).
