Engine runs for half a rotation

Anyone else have a symptom where the engine continues to run for half a rotation or so, even a slight judder to stop, when switching off the vehicle and the engine is running?

Is it to do with the longer stroke of the Aktinson cycle?

Thanks in advance

It's more to do with it being a hybrid. The engine stops and "parks" it's self in one of two positions. If the engine has not reached or overrun that position the motor in the transmission that starts the engine will move it to the correct position ready for starting.
If at all in doubt have a word with the dealer.

This a very interesting find. It makes me very curious, though. Half a rotation takes about 50 milliseconds to complete. How can you detect this?

You feel it rather than see it that's the only way I can explain this. Some cars seem to do it more than others, and this may be down to small variations in tolerances of things like crankshaft position sensors. I had a Prius that rarely did this, but I had a friend with the same year and model Prius that perhaps re-positioned at 50% of engine stops.
