Hi, I have an RX 400 with an Autochair Olympian arm installation.. looking to get a RX 450 2016 and wondering if anyone has one with a Autochair hoist installed?

Hi Jason.
I would not think there is any difference in fitting the hoist between the RX400, and the 450. I have fitted a home built system to my GS, and know what a great help this is. I did consider an external carrier fitted to the tow bar, but realised this would not only hamper boot access, but the chair would be open to the weather, and dirt dragged up at the rear of the car.

Thanks for your reply sir. I spoke to Autochair and their response was that since there are differences in the hybrid system on the 2016 shape 450 that they reckoned I needed to buy a new installation including the A frame and a new arm! They reckon the arm has to be positioned on the left whereas in the 400 it was installed on the right.

This seems a bit mad to me.

Quite honestly Jason I do not believe them. The system they build is designed to fit on both sides of a vehicle, and also almost certainly fits many different vehicles. It does not make any sense to manufacture specific car fitting for a market that is so small anyway. If it were the case could they not offer an exchange scheme.

Take some pictures of the mounting points, and then go into a dealers and ask to do the same on a 2016 shape. Take a tape measure with you, and do a few measurements then compare.
