Multiple electrics failures RX400H

Recommended Posts

Hi, recently I have problem with my RX400H. Many items have failed all at the same time.  The list is..

No rear parking camera on screen, or guide lines.

No right or left (turn) indicators. (Hazzards working)

No reversing light.

No climate control (screen blank) also the climate control  switch and yellow on light does not work.

Have tried looking for blown fuses but think it is something greater that controls all these items. Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated.

With all the recent rain, it could be the dreaded water ingress issue (look at other threads on this forum). Pull out the black trays under you boot floor flaps and have a look for lots of water... if so, it might have got into the hybrid Battery tray.

I can't think of any single module that is common to all of the issues you mention.

It's more likely a wiring issue. The dashboard would be a good area to look as the wiring for all of those would at some point be in the dashboard area.

Most of the wires run to the tailgate and I'd have suspected pinched/broken wires at the tailgate, but the climate control eliminates that and pushes the fault more to the dashboard area.

The camera goes to the multimedia module, as does the climate control wiring. The indicator wiring goes to the hazard switch in the centre console, the reversing switch wiring also goes to the multimedia module to switch the screen to the camera signal.

So my first thought would be to look in the dash area around and behind the screen to check for damaged wiring. It's amazing where little rodents can get and chew wires. 😉

Another place to look would be the boot. The nav ecu and the camera ecu are in the boot as is the bulb failure module. But there is no common connection for all the things that are failing. Each if the three modules have indicator, reverse and camera lines.

Currently going through another episode of this 🤨. Been to a specialist previously about it - no joy. No water ingress. No one  seems to know what this one’s about. Rare one but certainly not totally unheard of as the above threads all describe the same very specific features. One to ignore I suppose as car is flawless otherwise. Just really annoying as boot can’t be opened during ‘the episode’ (can last one day or more) until it eventually self resolves itself, no memory seats during it, only driver’s window works from driver’s panel. Other windows only work from individual doors. My hunch says its a faulty control module somewhere which plays up only randomly without any links or asscoiations or triggers. The codes don’t persist. Indy said there was something which suggested some voltage variations but he couldn’t nail the root cause. Exhausted the forums. Doubt even a main dealer will nail this one. How frustrating. Anyone up for a challenge to try figure / diagnose this one (in person or remotely) - feel free to get in touch - I’ll more than happily drive some distance to have this never occur again !! I’d hate to sell it onwards to an unsuslecting like this. Almost certain why the private seller I got it from shifted it. Can be episode free for months ...so would be very easy to shift onwards. Any clues or suggestions gratefully appreciated, many thanks !!
