Takumi or F Sport Takumi?

Recommended Posts

Good morning,

I am looking at buying UX, it will have to have leather memory seats, so has to be Takumi.

I was wondering, has anyone driven the F sport Takumi and standard Takumi to compare? What is the difference in seats comfort? Is the handling/suspension much different?

Ensure you have the Optional Pack that has AVS as you need to counter the Run Flat Tyre "harshness".

My NX has AVS & the ride is transformed on F-Sport versions.

My NX F-Sport has AVS which was revised for model year 2019.

In D-Mode the ride is significantly softer than normal F-Sport Suspension

In D-Sport the ride is firmer but more refined than the normal suspension.

In D-Sport+ the ride is firm & considerably boosts the Handling.

To say AVS does not read the road ahead the 700/second adjustments, up from c.250 before, really work.

Assume the UX AVS is the same.

Hello John,

A few months ago I bought a UX F Sport Takumi . Prior to purchase I was able to take a 48 hour test drive back to back with the F Sport Takumi and the UX Takumi. The UX Takumi  had much softer suspension and was very 'wallowy' on bends and roundabouts and was not helped by the non supportive seats. The F Sport was a firmer ride in normal mode but still very comfortable with excellent seats and this confirmed that the F Sport was the model for us.

We also found that the Dunlop tyres were much quieter than the Bridgstone and therefore upon delivery the LEXUS Dealer exchanged them for Dunlops. We are very happy with our purchase and would have no hesitation in buying and identical model again.

Hope this information is helpful to you John,

regards

Paul

For my two cents, I tried out both a Takumi and a regular F-Sport, and wasn't convinced that the initial damping in the Takumi was any softer. Rather, it simply seemed to take longer to settle afterwards, wallowing a bit. I never had a chance to try it on some twisty roads, where the F-Sport genuinely impressed me.

The clincher for me was that the steering wheel on the Takumi model felt like it had an extra layer of squishy foam under the leather - felt really unpleasant to grip. The wheel on the F-Sport models is much nicer to hold, but that's purely a subjective opinion.
