Hi all🙂

As title says my L/H front indicator is playing up again i had this 2 years ago and the dealer replaced the bulb and all was well the bulb was not the problem but i got them to change it as it was working intermittently.

Alas now the problem is back again flashes like mad as though the bulbs gone a quick tap on the headlight and then it works ok not ideal but works for a few days then it goes wrong again.

Anybody had this problem seems like a loose wire / bad connection this is going to cost me i know will ask dealer to investigate when the new rear screen is fitted supposed to be on the 6 th April not much chance off that now is there☹️

Any helpful advise would be much appreciated.🙂

Hyperflashing is the way the driver is alerted to an indicator lamp has blown.

If the lamp itself is genuinely alright then it can only be a loose or dirty connection, or the lampholder that's causing an intermittent contact and making the system think that the lamp has blown. Use some wire wool or emery paper to clean all the contacts and terminals.

If you do use wire wool or emery cloth to clean an electrical contact then it is good practice to treat the area afterwards with some dielectric grease to protect the surface as you may have broken through the bright protective coating on the part and exposed the underlying copper, and if exposed to atmospheric conditions this may well corrode and become a future problem.

Wife had this issue on her Vauxhall - it would either work fine, flash eratically or not at all.

After a bit of investigation i found the connection to the bulb was corroded and while it looked ok when i tried to clean it / bend it a bit, it fell out. It was the long metal strip within the bulb socket. I fixed it by soldering a bit of wire to the holder and to the connection. Its not happenned since.

Not saying it is this but worth a look see.
