Worth deactivating smart entry to save battery?

Recommended Posts

In the manual it says if the car isn't going to be driven for a while you can deactivate the smart entry/start system.

I assume this stops the car searching for the key signal continuously. I imagine it continues to do this even when you turn off the key signal on the key itself. In any case, the manual seems to suggest that after five days the car will search less frequently anyway to save power.

I wonder if there is much power to be saved by deactivating the smart enry/start. Will it have much impact on saving the power in the 12v Battery? Does anyone know how much power would be saved and whether it's worth bothering with this?

Personally I don't think there is much  power to be saved by deactivating the keyless entry system, however its makes deactivating it for safety/security reasons as this stops would be car thieves from picking up the signals emitted from the key fobs
