I have contacted them, but they have not responded yet.

i was hoping that because the first LC in the country is only just coming up to 3 years old that they may extend the 2 for 1 offer to the LC, I have also noticed that the offer does not apply to the LS either

Does the LC have any issues that would warrant the cost? or do Lexus know something everyone else doesn't.

No issues that i know of, if i remember correctly the same thing happened with the RC-F, they didn't show the 2 for 1 until the car reached 3 years old, so ill keep my fingers crossed, the problem is it doesn't take much to even get to £1500, i had a sticking fuel cap which was a issue, it took them all day to dismantle the car to replace it under warranty, god knows how much that would have cost out of warranty.

The quoted £1500 per year is in Aston Martin warranty territory. I might consider it on a 2 for 1 basis but if they don't offer it I might well take my chances as I am only doing 5K miles per year. My car is 3 years old next February.

if they don't do the 2 for 1 ill put the £1500 away, cross my fingers, and create merry hell if anything goes wrong with it.

3 years old in October, will have less than 6k miles on the clock, they want £1500 for a 1 year extended warranty, at the moment there is no 2 for 1 deal on the LC.

what to do?

The warranty length of time niggles me a little also. To me, as a Premium brand, Lexus should have the 5 years, and Toyota 3 years. What would Lexus do if a Toyota branded part failed between 3 and 5 years? I realise mechanical parts may be model specific, but many electrical parts are the same.

I suppose the only consolation as regards the extended warranty has is that it is much better in the cars longer life. Other makers do not compare.

We go in with our eyes open when we purchase, so I guess we can only blame ourselves! Thankfully they don't go wrong very often.

There aren't really Lexus parts, only Toyota parts. Lexus would do nothing if a 'Toyota' part failed between 3 and 5 years - it is the car that carries the warranty not the individual components. If you purchase a component it only has 1 year warranty.

The warranty has nothing to do with likelihood of failure - just what the market will take and what regulations are in place, hence a Lexus in the US has a 4 year warranty, and 3 years in the UK. Lexus in the UK compete against manufacturers that provide 3 years, therefore there is no reason for them to offer more. Toyota compete against manufacturers offering 5 and 7 year warranties, which is why they moved from 3 to 5 years some time ago.
