Wheel Offset

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a 2009 Lexus IS250. I wish to purchase new wheels for my car and was researching on what PCD type etc the car requires. I am currently trying to figure out how much offset I can afford. I cannot seem to find a definitive answer. Does anyone have any idea?

The standard wheels are:

PCD 114.3 mm

225/45R17.   17x8JJ.    45 mm offset

245/45R17.   17x8JJ.    45 mm offset

225/40/18.   18x8JJ.    45 mm offset

255/40/18.   18x8.5JJ. 50 mm offset

Thank you for letting me know!!

Do you know hoe negative my offset can go before it will cause a problem?

You need to measure the distance from the front of the wheel/tyre to the wheel arch as if you make the offset less positive, or beyond that to negative, then the wheel will stick out more. Legally you cannot go beyond the bodywork.

If you change the width of the wheel then that will alter the offset value so it isn't a question that can be answered without knowing what you are looking to achieve.

There are calculators online that will help. Here is one:
