Back plate Rear - correct price?

Price wouldn't surprise me.  A similar query was raised on the RX forum some time ago and the poster got pattern parts a lot cheaper if I correctly recall,  maybe from abroad.  Perhaps worth a search to check on this and if so whether source could supply for your car.

The rear back plates have the mountings for the parking brake shoes, and operating cable as well as the disk shield. As such it is two parts welded together. A central thicker plate, and a larger thinner plate to shield the disk making it more expensive. It does not warrant that sort of extra price though.

Understand the extras but at 10x the cost of the front - that's exorbitant!

I sourced a complete used knuckle ( with the plate in good condition ) for £22.00 a few minutes ago. Should be with me next week.

You may well find it easier to fit the complete knuckle than to try ,and separate the bearing hubs from both knuckles. As they can seize in, and be a pig to remove.

Dealers make a substantial part of their profit on supplying and fitting replacement parts.  Bearing in mind susceptibility of these back plates have to corrosion and difficulty to replace them, it would surely make sense for them to be made out of stainless steel but try getting a manufacturer to do that!

Japan doesn't salt the roads in winter so not a problem to them.

Had to source a backplate for my GS300 1999, could not find any, had to order from a company in Japan. It was £177.78 inc PP, the only thing was it is costing me £58 for import duties.
