Padestrian sensors

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I'm a proud owner of a lexus is300 2014 model,

I bought the car few months back, needed few bits and pieces done, I didn't hesitate to buy because of the price.

I'm struggling to find a connecting loop that connects the 2 padestrian sensors at the front,

I know German cars have an clear pipe connecting the sensors, not sure about lexus.

Its not the wiring I have all that it's just the pipe or similar that connects the 2 sensors. Without that I can't reprogram the car. Can someone please help with what is the part called or how to connect?

Thanks

Mo

I've never heard of 'pedestrian sensors' before. You don't mean the parking sensors, do you?

The only clear pipe I can think of is the water pipe to the headlight washers.

I'm genuinely intrigued by this, so I hope someone can help.

My 2019 RC has pedestrian collision detection but that's done via the radar sensor.

If there are two sensors in question, I'd go with Herbie's suggestion of parking sensors..

The attached picture is the sensors. One on either sides. How do you connect ct one to the other?

Thanks

There is a black tube sits along the front these sensors clip into. It activates the pop up hood

I think it's called pressure tube

You are right. It is the sensor to activate the pop up hood,

I've tried to source the pressure tube everywhere, I took it to lexus and they didn't have a clue aswell.

If anyone can please help me I would be grateful

Thanks

On nengun genuine parts catelog it's listed as "chamber - pop up hood"

2013-08/2015 lexus ave30, gse3.

Part number 52621-53020.

Google the part number and the images will come up. Check this is the right one as I never checked to see if f sport and non f sport are the same.

I've googled it and checked with lexus this is a reinforcement that sits behind the slam panel. It is where the sonsors are located, but not this part.

Its wired one. Lexuzhave confirmed they know what I'm talking about but they can not locate it in their pictures them selves

Do you think I'll be able to reprogram the pop up hood without this part?

Are you sure that the chamber is NOT the right part? I think it is, as the sensor fits in it as it measures air pressure so if the chamber is depressed or deformed it will send a signal to the piston/rams.

As Andrew said the sensors locate in the chaimer. I'm 100% sure of this as it was busted on mine too.

Thank you it was the chamber as you said. All fitted now.

One last issue the sign pop up hood activated has still not gone from the dash. Any advice how to remove that sign please

Thanks

The pop up pistons will need replaced.

Then the crash data is stored in the airbag ecu. This needs reset. It can not be done with diagnostic equipment.

It requires done on the bench with specialist equipment, I use a company called "crash data. Co. Uk" I think the cost is around £60 plus post.
