Ok good to know next time ive got the ''deal of a lifetime'' for sale at my shop ill be sure to let you know if your that easily relieved of your capital, hell you even talked yourself into it above!

Sincerely, good luck with your venture.  What will you be charging for an ISF/RCF service would you think?  If you did make a good name for it it would be a nice little niche and meeting point for F drivers.

Not understanding your reply though really. It was more a technical discussion than an appeal to defend Lexus prices. You seem to be treating it as an argument, where none exists.

I would happily use a specialist Indy if the Lexus warranty didn't tie me into using Lexus service.

I was simply pointing out what the expensive (no denying it) service cost is paying for.

Wouldn't dream of trying to tell someone if it is a good or bad thing. It's personal choice afterall.

Your post came across as a little cocky so that's what instigated my reply if that wasn't your intention then i do apologise i sometimes don't read between the line's.

In all honesty i wouldn't know the cost's of the service but at a quick guess it would be at least 35% cheaper as i don't have all the overheads as you mentioned in your post which is the main reason i can operate my current business rates a lot cheaper than others.

It wouldn't be just for F cars though as there's simply not enough on the road to justify more investment, i'd be aiming at performance cars in general to keep it interesting.

Wasn't intended to be cocky in the slightest. Apologies are returned for my lack of writing skills.

dammit Jim, I'm a mechanic not an English professor

Seems we agree with each other anyway after all that

I didn't mean just for F cars (it's difficult communicating by writing lol) but a good rep to bring the F's in would be handy - after all knowledge is a chargeable commodity. But yes, Performance cars in general has to be better than working on commuter boxes all day. Also dealers tend to lose interest in older technology as time passes. A lot of what I do, dealers no longer have the training or knowledge for. Creates nice little niches.

I got FULL service on my RCF for under £300 at my then local Toyota dealership when I live up the north east of 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
only thing they didn’t do is change my air filter as I asked them not to due to new apexi filter just fitted

Which service was that for? i.e intermediate or full 20k,40k?

Full serviced on 50k

actual price was £272

as shown in photos

couple of years ago they also FULL serviced my LS600hL for £325 minus the hybrid health check

so is a option to get service done by toyota dealers.... a lot of lexus dealers actually use A toyota garages for servicing .... ie if you book a service at lexus Guildford your car goes next door to toyota Guildford but charged lexus prices.... but when i lived up north nearest lexus garage was over 200miles away so my local toyota garage serviced my car at there toyota prices and not the over inflated lexus prices...same oil same filters etc etc go figure 😂

That sounds like a good alternative to use.

Had this exact problem happen quite a bit especially with BMW's in the past luckily there's plenty of specialist's up my way just finding the right one.

Even worse when the manufacturer invents its own tools for certain jobs and they become impossible to purchase after so many years.

It's a shared workshop facility - the vehicle doesn't go next door to be worked on cheaply and not all the mechanics are Lexus vehicle trained. But the service cost is based on the brand of coffee, the quality of the wood in the showroom and the perceived disposable income of the Lexus owner - not the workshop facilities or a team of only master mechanics.

Finding a Toyota dealer that will do the work is the problem. Toyota GB don't allow it, can strip them of the franchise if found out and technically their Techstream license shouldn't give them access to all the Lexus diagnostics, TSB info, firmware files etc.

The dealers that have both T and L franchises (e.g. Inchcape Guildford) would always insist on you going into the building with the L badge on it.

Wow, that did surprise me, after all Lexus is Toyota 🤷🏼‍♂️.....actually badged as “Luxury Export eXport to United States”....purely to be taken as a superior alternative to luxury brands like the normal Merc, BM......I honestly wouldn’t have seen an issue between the two, I think there’s a fair few US toyotas that actually use the “Lexus engines” or actually vice vesa 🙄......not sure if this applies in the states (re services)....but personally would never have given it a thought
