Strange engine chirping/cricket sound

Recommended Posts

Hi everybody, I'm new here. I've had my IS300h for almost a year now and ran great, it's a 2015 imported from the Netherlands (I live in Romania). Summer came and I noticed the car started having a slightly lower mpg (not thinking it must've been due to the high Temps we get here thus the AC and the engine cooling system would be running at max speed), the car was due for a spark plug change as per the service manual so I did them. As of lately I've noticed a cricket sound coming from the engine bay whenever I would drive the car hard and stop (the sound can be heard at idle, it cannot be heard from inside the car). Mind you, the noise can usually be heard after the car has been driven hard and NOT after light city cruising. The sound is the same as the ones the Toyota 86's are known for (fuel pump issue), could it be the same issue for me?

Steven, could it be the brake pump operating after heavy braking?

This is EXACTLY what it sounds like:

It's literally like i have crickets under the hood...

I'm not sure if the brake pump or fuel pump could be at fault for it, all i've noticed is that it's not always present and the performance of the car does not seem to be affected
