150k mile service

Recommended Posts

hi, new member here with 2011 ct200h. just wondering does anyone know what type of service is done at 150k miles by dealership. car was serviced every 10k miles while in Britain. company car. came into ireland at 130k miles. hasn't been to lexus since but still serviced twice before I bought it. bought it last year and asked garage I bought it of to get hybrid health check. all good. car dives like new. only issue that iv had is air con only blows cold on one side of vents. appreciate any replies. thanks.

If the transmission fluid hasn't been changed you'll probably want to do that, it's well past due at 150k. The vent issue is possibly a failed servo somewhere in the dash, they control doors that direct air to the vents.

You could try pulling the Battery or the HVAC fuse for 20mins or so, that might reset the system and cause it to re-learn where the open and close positions of the doors are. Be aware though that pulling the Battery may have other effects on a car that new, I suspect it may not be recommended.

thanks for help m4rkw. had a flick through service booklet. it says inverter coolant should be changed at 150k. and front diff oil should be done every 40k. the book is stamped every 10k. just doesn't say what work was done. does lexus keep a log of all work that was carried out? I'm hoping it had major service at 100k like bmws need.

If it was serviced at the main dealer then they may well have a record of it. However transmission servicing isn’t normally included on the maintenance schedule. Manufacturer’s claim they are “sealed for life”, which is technically true - once the fluid’s burned up that’s the end of its life!

It is only true Mark if the definition of "life" is understood.

To avoid doubt and misunderstanding "life" means the production run of the model. This has traditionally been of the order of 6/7 years depending upon the manufacturer.

If one assumes that David`s car has had a 150,000 mile service, then it is due a (1)60,000 miles (full as defined by Lexus) service, plus consumables.

hi Roy. its just hit the 150k mile mark. due service at 151k. the dealership had no ideal date for me to leave car but she said it's due a 16yr service. prob due to mileage. I didn't even ask what price it would be out of fear 😅. they charge 139 euro per hour for labour.

Yep completely agree! The manufacturer only cares about the car making it past about 100k, and out of its warranty period. Beyond that they don't care.

Also, and I hesitate to say this given the OP's situation, but I probably wouldn't buy an automatic car with 150k on it if the transmission had never been serviced. Fingers crossed nothing bad will happen but at that mileage it's way past due.

yes mark I was hesitant about the mileage but after doing some research before buying I read that they are capable of doing 300k without any major issues reported and haven't heard of any transmission failures. they seem pretty robust. plus it had full lexus service history up to 134k I bought it at 140k. seems like it was well cared for in England. still feels tight and very smooth drive. oh and sorry John for calling u Roy.😁 just seen your profile.

Roy is fine Davey!

Toyota Prius are known to have exceeded 400k as taxis in UK without Battery problems and whilst I stand to be corrected, there has not been one single fault reported on any Hybrid Transmission.

Lexus CT200h models are also being reported as trouble free vehicles to own and run.

So what's the concensus of replacing the diff oil, auto box oil and hybrid coolant? Does this need to be done at the mileage in the service book? Other than getting lexus to do a hybrid health check I will be servicing my ct200h and is300h....

My 2015 CT is now on 116,000 miles.  It's Essential maintenance all the way for me now simply because it includes the all important hybrid check.

In fact is was serviced yesterday and passed with flying-colours (with the important stamp in the service book too)

Any peripheral stuff like plugs, gearbox oil, wiper-blades to be picked up by me or my trusted local mechanic as needed!

A cost effective and sensible way of running a car I would say!

Yes, that`s about right Steve.

brake pads and discs?

I never seem to use pads & discs on any car I own as I was taught to "anticipate" the traffic.  It makes me laugh at the way some cars have brake lights which are continuously on and off.

One of my recent Land-Rover Discoveries did 60k on a set of tyres and never needed pads either.

My CT discs were reported as being in good condition yesterday but a little "rusty"...  Sounds about right!

bit of advice for anyone on here with high mile ct200h,I'm sure most have heard of this issue. it's worth getting egr valve, pipe and intake manifold cleaned out. seems to be common issue with these and the same generation prius. on way to work last week i started getting really bad engine shuddering under light acceleration. when under high load it went away. only shuddered when releasing accelerator. when starting car back up to go home it was still shaking. but after a less than a minute of driving it completely disappeared and has not come back. I asked my local mechanic about it and he said it's more than likely egr. he has done many jobs on the prius down the years. I never got any check engine light when it happened thankfully. I was able to take of the egr pipe to have a look. had some carbon build up inside it. anyway. sorry for long post. just something to look out for in future.
