Fault Code P3191 Engine Does Not Start 🤔

Before I start remortgaging as I convince myself my entire hybrid system is knackered does anyone have some insight into this rather wide ranging fault code?!

Car has been spot on and is well maintained, done 157k without a blip. Today, out of nowhere, it starts up and after about 10 seconds it conks out and shows the 'check VSC/Hybrid/AWD' errors. I have read the codes and the only one showing is P3191, no others. There is about 80% of a tankful of fresh fuel and the car is my daily and used as such. So, research has shown me this could be anything from MAF sensor or fuel pump relay up to knackered hybrid batteries. Hybrid system was operating perfectly fine yesterday.

So what are the 'easier' things to check that me and or my good local indie can do? The issue for me is that I live on the Isle of Wight and we do not have a hybrid specialist here. Even the Toyota main dealer sends their hybrid faults to the mainland for repair. So let's check the stuff we can first.

Plus secondly, does anyone know a good hybrid indie in the south if it comes to that? Always good to know for the future.

What's the state of the 12V battery?

They have been known to light up the dash with all sorts of lights when they fail or are on their way out.

Thanks Herbie, yes, I'd go straight to that but it's a good quality Battery and is 3 months old. On start up it's showing 13v easy and every time.

On the basis it's just showing the one code and not loads of hybrid codes I'm thinking maybe something in the fueling? Pump/pump relay, injectors, etc possibly?

That was indeed the conclusion in that topic above from 2015 - turned out to be the fuel pump relay.

Yes, I'll start by checking the fuel pump relay tomorrow. If I can find it! 🤣 Thanks Herbie!

Looks as if you have your servicing done by an independant garage, do you have an annual hybrid check done by Lexus (£59) which warrants the batteries for a year? This can be done up to when the car is 15 years old. If the current problem isn't hybrid related, may be worth an annual check just for peace of mind.

Well yep, culprit was a fuse! 😆

Just leave this here for any future searchers. And to remind me of my own paranoia!

Which fuse in the end was it?  I am having similar Hybrid check/VSC/AWD warnings

Warrants the Hybrid Battery not Batteries.
