Thinking of buying a VW/Audi electric car?

Hmmm,  I've read similar reports on other forums.

It would also seem that Skoda reliability is better than Audi, because they use the older technology that people like him are developing!

Back to this car. It wouldn't surprise me if it's had an accident prior to delivery, and that's the cause of the poor paint and water ingress.

Why has he not rejected the car? Why has the dealer said we don't know how to fix it, you need to contact Audi? Surely it is the dealer that should be contacting Audi... The mind boggles!

More videos like this and eventually the car buying public will realise the one way to go is to buy Lexus, Toyota, Honda etc.

VW ID.3 is a lovely car...when it works

Day 2, back to the garage for a number of fault lights. Hope that all it needs is a software upgrade.

No obvious structural problems, is nice and quiet, smooth, good gadgets etc, very low price after discounts etc BUT, after 110 miles, straight to the garage

oh well

You got a/several discount(s) Vas on a brand new VW ID 3 electric car ?

yeap

Brand new, 1st edition, just under 30K

that is 6K +3K discount on a brand new VW ID.3 pro 1st edition

Don't get me wrong, those few hours I drove it I was able to prove that the EV range is real and was extremelly quiet on the road, very smooth, very Lexushy if I may.

When it works, much better than a CT at almost the same money and very well specked

A bit of an ergonomic nightmare as you need to use the big middle screen for almost anything but you know, Teslas are the same, can't complaint

BUT, it's in the garage after less than 5 hours of driving ( well, it goes tomorrow with VW road assistance

If it was a Lexus, it would.

Please keep us all updated.

well, was - and now still - thinking about the 300e. Range though is too short but yes, It would definitely work if it was a Lexus ( have some very positve experience from BMW as well suprisingly, i3 range though is again too short and the car too small and iX3 is made in China so not so keen about it)

Will keep you updated

Coincidence as I saw one of these plugged in today.

So he had no moans about the electrical ability of the car . Paint, virtual mirrors, suspension leg ? , roof antenna and a leak.

The only thing related to its electrical prowess was the plastic cover covering the storage bay for the lead was apparently cheap and a problem with what side the car was charged on, so hardly deal breakers.

I would rather have heard about its ability as an electric vehicle, the rest just seem normal new model car moans that I'm sure will be addressed.

You seem easily pleased Doog.

I must say if I`d spent 100,000 plus euros on  a vehicle and still had outstanding issues after 12 months I`d have gone ballistic.

Anyway, a fool and his money......................................

Its probably leased or on a PCP...no one in their right mind actually spends 100,000 euro on a new Audi SUV EV outright. No one buys a Lexus outright at that price either (awaits random LC 500 owner with a dodgy petrol cap to pop up)

He has a warranty so it will be sorted and he'll probably chop it in when the latest fad motor pops up at the end of his deal.

Its a shame we didn't hear about the electrical performance, I mean that was surely the whole point of the thread (and indeed the vehicle ) unless of course it was the usual German bashing.

If it were leased or PCP, he would have been able to return it without all the fuss. In fact, that is kind of the point of leasing - the flexibility.

The fact that he is publicly disclosing his intention on taking them to court makes it seem like he may have just bought it outright, hence being "stuck" with it.

I do not think it was German bashing. He really liked the car but was very disappointed by the lack of useable wing mirrors / paint issues / leaks / electrical gremlins / charging point.

I felt gutted for him, not sure he was able to reject the car as he bought it in France. Issues do not always manifest themselves straight away. I did not like the colour to be honest!

As regards the door mounted camera substitutes for mirrors, perhaps the screens could be improved by adjusting angle to suit as with conventional mirrors - might be better still if these could be mounted on dash so more in driver's view.  Another aspect is how these are affected by sun when driver may well be wearing sun glasses.  When doing so I have to turn up the brightness of my HUD and Tom Tom as well as swop my normal sun glasses for less heavily tinted ones.  This is not a problem with conventional mirrors of course.

I guess he would have to take it up with the finance company under those circumstances but they would insist the repairs were addressed first. If he did actually pay cash then agree what a fool, not because it was an Audi, more so brand new tech... I notice buried in the comments of one of the videos he's been promised a full refund but more importantly most of the issues have been ironed out with the later edition.

There's just no fooling you, is there?  😉

Haha. After reading the issues with Tesla, I'm not going near an EV until I'm forced to. :wink3:

He does actually comment on the problems of charging stations etc and the difficulty he encountered on a long trip (first vid of his) where he was proudly wearing his Audi 100 % electric shirt. I found that more interesting than his car leaking to be fair (not the shirt) New cars have faults, some manufacturers do better than others as we all know.

An argument for keeping to tried and trusted technology. It seems Audi rushed the development.

People overlook, or forget, or just don`t know, that when Lexus introduced the LS into the U.S.A. in the late 80`s, a good number of problems arose and owners complained.

It was how those problems were dealt with that was important. Lexus sent specialised technicians to the homes of each complainant, to address and correct/fix each reported matter.

That was Customer Service that had never been seen before. They cared, because caring can lead to a satisfied customer and a satisfied customer can lead to increased sales.

Not Rocket Science, but fundamentally important. If the basics ain`t right..........................................!
