low compression rings

Just came across random video, which I found rather interesting... I assume most newer Lexus engines would use low compression rings. Fun thing - I did oil changes on IS250 every 6k miles instead of 10k, but I doubt it matter at the mileage car had. Although my oil consumption was ~ 0.6-1L oil per 10k miles, not so bad for nearly 200k engine.

wow what a video. Not too sure what to think of him. One or three contradictions at least. Personally I can't believe a car from new covering just 40 odd k miles had a knackered engine because of oil changes at 10k intervals. To me that's one helluva poor engine design. I agree with him about oil changes at 5k miles. I suppose its lucky to me that I'm now a low miler. About 3k miles a year. Mind you my car has averaged 6.5k miles a year and with a full lexus service history I think my engine is just fine and dandy. Out of interest tho I'll look at the oil level at fuel ups. Interesting video you've found Linas.

2007, 43k on my 250 and oil changed every 5k religiously in all (5) of our cars, would like to ‘see’ inside but got absolutely no intention of ‘going in!’ 😀

Excellent video - just watched it - totally agree with the guy in this video and also with the engine cleaner (engine flush), have done this for years and years. Had a Vauxhall Astra once - long time ago (2003) and that had the issue with oil consumption, 1 litre per 1k miles and Vauxhall were adamant that it was normal usage - begged to differ at the time, had it on a consumption test by them and the results came back as fine - eventually sold it back to them as a part x against first Lexus - best thing i done.

Blimey. I've had both a SRI Cavalier and a SR Astra (I think it was SR but a 1800 injection anyway). Both for a couple years and must have put 40k + miles on each. Oil changes were at 6k intervals and neither car had oil leaks or burnt its oil and neither lost any either. I must have been lucky with my vauxhalls.
