Hi Paul and welcome to the LOC.

It is usually a defective LCD panel, the connections are gold bonded to the screen...if they become loose at the side you get a horizontal line or top or bottom results in a vertical line.

Have you tried gently touching the screen to see if it goes?

If you have only had the car a week and it was purchased from a motor dealer take it back for repair, if bought privately your stuck.
