Compare apples and bananas is not helping any.

Seems that some of the diesels from Lexus run well, have happy owners and if the engine was good in a Toyota, it should not be that bad in a Lexus.

In the Toyota I believe it was set up better as you could get an avensis into 6th at 35-40 mph. Compared to the 220d. Guess that’s why they did the change on the later Diesel engines and de tuned them. 
 

I was one of those lucky Lexus owners with an IS220d that didn’t have engine issues it was just bad on MPG for a diesel
