If this is the car I think it is, it was sold by a collector in Edinburgh roughly 2/3 years ago, cosmetically it is perfect. I think it has been advertised before using the original sellers pictures which is why I think its the same car

Thanks Mark it’s beautiful

Any idea what the paint code is for the wheels?

There are no paint codes for Lexus LS400 wheels I did my Mark 4 with VW/Audi  LY7T crystal silver which is a near perfect match to the original Lexus factory colour.

Zak hi,  what's your likely annual mileage going to be ?

Are you going to get 000's of annual miles of pleasure or is it for special treats ?

Hi Malc

im going to daily it. Life’s too short!

but I’m very meticulous about my cars so before I do that I will get it up to standard.

it’s an amazing car. I have had modern jags and mercs etc but this blows them out of the water.

the build, fit and finish is something else.

no modern car can compare. Utterly wonderful

couldn't agree more ..........

had my Mk3 ( like yours ) now for nigh on 10 years and 110k of the 232k miles now on her ....  everyday I marvel at what a wonderful car it is .....  better than my Mk1 and Mk2 before her .......   now some 20+ odd years of a Ls400 being my daily main driver

Confident to take it anywhere ...........  used to do 4000 mile month long trips around europe ....  and Scotland too ..  when we could go places :wink3:

as you say    " Utterly wonderful " .....  confident, comfortable and as fast as you want it to be in those rare moments when you want your wolf in sheep's clothing to be like a wolf......

ENJOY

Hi everyone

just a few questions if I may please:

the bonnet struts have been replaced by the previous owner by aftermarket struts.

he did however include the original struts when I bought it.

is it possible to rebuild these as new originals are extremely expensive.

lastly my car has the dhp wheels. However I’d like to get these refurbished. What is the original finish for these? Did they have a diamond lip? Or was the entire wheel just plain silver?

Many thanks 😊

These guys will do them for you, I think they cost 17.50 each for mine but I took them in and then collected them so saved the shipping costs.

Super job done and still working fine a couple of years later.

Zak hi,    I don't know the answer to your DHP wheel colour issue BUT ACLex ( on here still ?? ) from whom I bought my Ls400 10 years ago had DHP wheels on her prior to my purchase

Just a long shot but if you can find him on here and he remembers .....  you may be lucky and find out the answer !

From the images online it looks as though they were plain silver all over. I don't think there is a paint code, so it's just a question of asking your chosen refurbisher to match the colour as close as possible.

It depends whether or not they what I call CCR (cheap chinese rubbish). My aftermarket struts are made in the UK and work just fine.

I don't have one so don't get your hopes up (!), but which bit do you mean? The casing that goes around the Battery or the trim that attaches to the side of the intake and is positioned in front of the Battery? There's no actual cover for the top of the Battery.

So in case anyone can help Zak out it's this one

https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/epc/lexus-europe/ls400/UCF20R/5092/body/7402/74489

There is a casing that goes round the Battery too and they're usually missing and/or knackered.

I got lucky and raided @steve2006's garage for both bits.
