Hi Everyone,

What oil do you use? The 3uz engine is in the Toyota Celsior xf30 and Toyota told me that uses 5w30 oil. I asked Lexus Bolton and they told me you can use toyota 5w30 engine oil in the 430 (as the engine is the same to my knowledge).

What oil do you use?

For petrol I've always used vpower in bigger engine/performance cars I've had. I've heard tesco momentum is supposed to be quite good and you can get clubcard points on them but I've always been hesistent of using supermarket fuel!

I used momentum99 in my IS200 sport when I owned it and am currently using it in my IS250 f sport and have never had any issues with it 🙂

I spoke to Lexus Bolton couple of weeks ago. They told me that Toyota 5w30 oil would be fine for it. It makes sense as the same engine is in the

Toyota Celsior XF30 and cross referencing with Toyota they said that engine oil is the correct one!

From the owners manual
Oil grade: API grade SL “Energy- Conserving” or ILSAC multigrade engine oil.
Recommended viscosity (SAE): 5W-30

Full synth will degrade more slowly.

As for petrol, Octane rating 91 (Research octane number 96) or higher so you need to run 97-99RON, but you can run 95RON with no ill effects other than possibly a slight loss of power. I ran my 2004 on 95RON for over 30k miles with no issues. Now that I'm not doing high mileage, I use 97-99RON.

For the last 12 years I've been running a LS430 I've always used Chevron Supreme Motor Oil 5W-30 Synthetic.

I buy it in 20L drums from COSTCO, I think they cost about £45 a drum which makes it about £2-25p a L. Had no problems in well over 100,000m.

I use their Premium petrol too (97 octain) as it's cheaper.

Oil is simple. Use what Lexus say. They spent millions choosing the oil. It is usually 5w-30 fully synthetic at SJ standard or better. These days I use Shell or even ASDA oil at £16 for 5 litters as it all exceeds the original SJ standard. Always use a Toyota, or Bosch, or Mann, or Hengst oil filter. Change the oil at least ever 10,000 miles. 5,000 is even better.

A DIY oil change is £25-30, do not get in a tiss about something so easy and simple.

Thanks,

I always use genuine parts if possible. Oil filters are cheap enough from the dealer. Spoke to Lexus they told me to use toyota 5w30 oil. Toyota main dealer have a special offer on where if you buy 4 you can get 5 litres of oil for just £12.50!

It's the same oil which goes in the crown xf30 as the engine is the same so seems like a no brainer!

Spoke to independent mechanic today and he said the same! 👌
